Chapter One

For every moment he wished was different, there was a corresponding result he couldn’t live without.

March 8, 2017 – Ty

The sound of the key in the front door made him glance at the clock. Eight thirty-five on the dot. His ever-punctual lover never failed to amaze him. With the kids’ elementary school in walking distance, Chase hustled them out the door at eight every morning, then stood talking with the other parents until the bell rang at eight twenty. After that, there was a standing invitation to join the rotating coffee clutch, though Chase limited himself to one ‘gab-session’ a week. Other than interrupting his coveted routines, the seemingly tight-knit group of mothers left Chase uneasy.

The way they banded together to target a school policy might be commendable, but they weren’t always right. Unfortunately, they also weren’t opposed to turning that herd mentality on any parent who disagreed with them. While Ty didn’t care what people thought in general and Chase would never care about anyone’s opinion regarding their relationship, neither of them wanted the ‘two dads’ issue to adversely impact the kids. The balancing act of being personable with people they didn’t actually trust had made things easier for Ava and Luc in school, but Ty was determined to keep an eye on how it was affecting his boy. As the heart of their little family, Chase needed to be protected, even—and maybe most especially—from the real housewives of Coconut Grove.

With a soft click, the front door closed behind him and Ty watched Chase take a deep cleansing breath as he quickly flipped the lock on the outside world. Under Chase’s care and with the help of Owen’s crew, the outdated home on the water had been modernized and transformed into a warm, welcoming sanctuary that made anyone allowed inside feel at ease. Both Chase and the children had thrived in the little oasis they’d built, and Ty knew he couldn’t ask for more.

Master. For as much as he loved their house and being able to provide it for his family, the soft sigh of that honorific and the way Chase looked at him was all the sanctuary he needed. I’m glad you’re still home.

Everything about him said that was true, from his glowing smile to the hurried steps that carried him across the free-flowing space that made up the first floor of their home. Not that Ty doubted him, but his presence would be another kink in the routines that kept Chase grounded. Ty swiveled completely around on the bar stool, allowing Chase to come right into the vee of his thighs and snag him around the waist. There was no hesitation, no waiting for direction or asking for permission—Chase knew the embrace was his to take and he settled in with a happy sigh.

Sometimes it was hard to believe that Chase hadn’t always lived right there. Four years seemed like such a short time and yet, they’d come so far. Together, they’d built a foundation of trust and love, a family and a life that neither of them had ever allowed themselves to consider before. They were truly happy, which in itself was a miracle, and he intended to keep fortifying that emotion until his last breath.

Windblown hair tickled the underside of his jaw and Ty carded his fingers through it until he had a nice handful. A gentle tug had that blond head tilting back and Chase smiled up at him, a willing recipient of anything he wanted to do. The gentle curve of those full lips demanded attention and Ty didn’t see any reason to deny them, not when Chase opened so eagerly for him and not when he made that little whimper that made his cock twitch. Ty flexed his thigh muscles and tightened his fist, locking Chase down as he ravaged his mouth until they were both hard, horny, and gasping for air.
