    immortal Revealed - Magen McMinimy

    Prologue

The siren eyed the ever-stretching desert around them as he and Sergio stood at the town line of Blue Diamond, Nevada. With a nod and a sigh, the two climbed back into Trevan’s black SUV and headed for the office of one Rory Wright, the journalist who’d been following all the weird happenings that the locals had blamed on everything from aliens to the more accurate vampire cults.

Evan’s coven couldn’t have leaks like this so close to home. The Las Vegas vampires laid low and worked side by side with the Light Fae warriors and their connections in the Human World to protect everyone from the Dark Fae that believed humans were no more than toys, or in more severe cases... fodder and food.

As Evan’s right-hand man, Sergio was on tap at all times to keep their vamps in line, as well as the Fae that would cause ripples in the smooth workings of the Master’s coven. With a siren in the FBI, the Light Fae had connections everywhere and now those connections had led Sergio and Trevan to the small town where a group of rogue vamps were not exactly attacking humans but making their presence known.

Sergio pulled the sunglasses from his face and eyed the weathered stone and wood building of the small town library. No wonder these are the stories the town gazette picks up. The newspaper is run out of the library? Let’s go see what we can find out.

Trevan smirked as he shoved the driver’s side door shut and followed Serge up the wooden steps to push through the dirty glass door and into the cool building. The inside of the library was in far better condition than the outside with fresh light gray paint and metal shelves lining the walls, creating stacks and stacks of research material for the town’s people.

The elderly, gray-haired, grandmotherly woman at the front desk smiled up at them. Can I help you gentlemen find something?

Trevan graced her with a handsome grin as he approached her desk. I sure hope so. We were hoping to find Rory Wright. We think we might have some information on all the—Trevan played the part of a secret informant, lowering his voice and scanning the room before continuing—the weird things happening here in Blue Diamond.

The older woman smiled and shook her head. All that nonsense. It’s just not right. I swear it’s some dang kids playing mean jokes on the locals.

And the burros, Sergio added with a sad shake of his head.

The woman sighed. Yes, the poor burros... Well, Rory is back in her office. Head to the back of the building and take the hall to the left. It’s the first door on the left.

    Thank you.

The two headed for the back of the building, weaving through rows of books until they found the reporter’s office. With a sharp rap of his knuckles, Sergio knocked. They heard a low curse and something hit the smooth floor before the door swung open and a tall blonde in a tight black pencil skirt and black tank greeted them with a pencil between her pouty lips and one arm in her suit jacket. Staring at the two for a moment, she pulled the pencil from her mouth and slid her free arm into her jacket.

    Can I help you?

Trevan’s gaze flicked to Sergio, who stood silent as he eyed the gorgeous woman before them.

Uh, well, actually, we’re here to help you.

One manicured brow ticked up as the beautiful reporter eyed them. Oh, is that so? And what are you here to help me with?

Sergio seemed to shake free of whatever held him silent. With this town’s vampire issue.

Trevan groaned and Rory’s gaze narrowed. Not this crap again.

You don’t believe in vampires? You wrote about them.

She sighed. I wrote what my editor told me to write... this town is full of conspiracies. And no, I do not believe in Vampires, or ghost or werewolves or any of that supernatural stuff. There are no vampires in Blue Diamond.

Trevan and Sergio exchanged glances before both smiling and nodding.

Well, can you point us in the direction of... Trevan paused as he pulled a small notepad from the inner pocket of his suit jacket. Mr. Dremin?

    Who are you?

Trevan smiled a thousand watts at her as he pulled a shiny gold badge from his waistband. Agent Hallows, FBI, ma’am, and this is my associate, Sergio Desoto.

Leaning forward, Rory eyed the gold badge with a blindfolded Lady Justice represented on it and the words Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Department of Justice. Looks legit. What do you want with Dremin?

Just a few questions about what he saw.

Rory scoffed. The FBI wanted to talk to her least reliable source. Desert moonshine messed with more than one’s stomach and liver. Sure thing, I’m heading that way now. You’re welcome to follow me.

    ***

Sergio slid back into the passenger seat of Trevan’s vehicle. Shaking his head with a wicked grin pulling at his lips, he mused, I’ll be a son of a bitch... she was right.

Trevan’s brow ticked up as he pulled out of the parking spot and followed the dust laden, red civic the reporter had climbed into. Who was right?

Astraea. I do believe I just found the beautiful blonde she spoke of.

Trevan grinned. The second-in-command just found his Achilles heel.

Sergio narrowed his gaze as it swung to study the profile of the dark-haired, mocha skinned siren sitting next to him. "Achilles heel?"

Yes, vampire, Achilles heel. If Astraea says you are going to fall in love with this woman then she will be your Achilles heel... why do think sirens use love and seduction to bring humans to their knees?

Sergio turned his attention back to the road in front of them. Not all Sirens use seduction to bring humans to their knees... some use their voice to bring the dark to their death.

Trevan nodded. True, as a Light Fae siren I don’t feed off the humans, but the Dark Fae who do... well, it’s a sad fate for any human caught in their song.

Sergio didn’t say anything else as they pulled up to an older, single-wide trailer on the outskirts of town. Putting the SUV in park next to Rory’s civic, both men jumped out and eyed her.

    This is where he lives?

She nodded. And that would be him passed out in the recliner on the porch... When I said I was headed this way it was to make sure that my uncle hadn’t drunk himself to death.

Trevan sighed, and Sergio suppressed a groan. They weren’t going to get any viable information from this man... not today anyhow.

I see. Trevan noted as he pulled a card from his breast pocket and handed it to Rory. I know you don’t believe in the supernatural, but nonetheless we are here to investigate what’s been happening in your seemingly quiet little town. If you think of anything or think of anyone who might be able to shed some light on the situation, please let me know. We’ll be staying at the Blue Diamond Inn.

Sure thing, she called out after taking the card and heading up the small set of stairs to her uncle’s side. Come on, Jerry, you’re gonna fry out here, you old drunk.

    Chapter One

Holly stalked the halls of Evan’s compound. There were days she missed the cool comfort of the Vegas oasis the coven had created, but as much as they had become family to her, nothing compared to waking each morning to Lothar at her side. Her handsome warrior with those steely gray eyes—that knew her so well—his slightly shaggy mahogany locks, and the compassion that bled from his very essence was worth living in the chaos of the Light Fae castle, worth every minute... oh, who was she kidding? She loved the chaos.

Her knuckles rapped against the thick wood of Sergio’s door. Open up, you Latino manwhore.

A chuckle sounded from the other side as the door swung open and dark eyes sparkled at her. That is no way to start a conversation. What’s up, little vamp?

Holly pushed past him to flop on the leather couch in the corner of his massive room. Just checking in. Thanks to Josiah, it’s safe for me to visit my vamps again. I hear you’ve been busy.

Sergio shook his head as he gracefully settled on the couch beside her. Who knew the Immortal Ruler would be a good addition to the Light Fae ranks?

Holly scoffed. Who didn’t? He and Makyle may be arrogant, stubborn and, well, scary as fuck, but they make us nearly unstoppable. And while Zander may be... oh, what’s the word, not as evil as Darion or even my mother when they were ruling the Dark Fae, but he’s sneaky and there is no trusting that damn luck eater.

Sergio nodded. Part of your issue with the damn luck eater, couldn’t have something to do with your brother? Could it?

Holly shot him a sarcastic look. "Of course it does. He
