The Way To Dawn - Charles Lee

    Bubblegum Crisis

    Chapter One

Before and during Derexen’s time, there has been several unexplainable disasters that have occurred with no leads on the cause. The media has covered up many of them with ludicrous reasons for what took place. However, there were some events in Terra’s history so heinous, not even the media could cover it up.

And during the seventeenth year of Derexen’s ruling, three events beyond compare took place on Terra.

In the city of Kaiza, a couple hours past midnight, the streets had emptied and the businesses have closed out for the night. However, there were several parts of the city that remain lively at all hours of the day.

One of those places was the famed hotel, Paradise, located at the center of the city, towering over seventy stories with a span of three city blocks. Paradise hotel was a place where celebrities, political figures, world leaders, high ranking entrepreneurs and company CEOs met. In short, a place for the rich and famous.

Because high profile individuals frequent the place, security was always at top form. Not just anyone can get in or circle the area without some form of resistance from tech security or personal security.

The entire three blocks of this place were fenced by black bars to help curb potential trespassers. Surrounding the base of the building were high beam lights shooting up high to illuminate the walls of the hotel.

Below every other lower floor window were well trimmed green bushes in stone pots. Across from every two bushes near the building were fine wooden benches between larger bushes in black pots near the curb. The front glass doors to the building were in sets of two out of six, guarded by four men dressed in black tuxedos.

Though Paradise hotel was never lacking in security, there was a greater difference than usual. Because today, the building’s on high alert with FBI and secret service agents on call in preparation of the two world leaders currently expected to arrive.

As the four men guarding the front doors look around with their dark shades, two black limousines come cruising down the street by the Paradise fences before slowing at the gates. Once checked by the booth workers after being handed information from the drivers, they open the gates up to the limos.

The two limousines ride up to the front of the building and park. The drivers step out of the cars and open the doors for their passengers in the back. Coming out from each car were four agents dressed in black like the ones guarding the front doors. They look around and wave for their respective leaders to come out.

Both were older gentlemen wearing a suit and tie with a metallic tie clip. The yellow-tied man in the front car is wearing a round clip with a red circle inside a white circle. The blue-tied man from the second car’s clip was rectangular with horizontal colors of white at top, blue, then red.

They have each of their personal guards lead them to the hotel. The man watching the front opens the door for them and allows the ten gentlemen in. As soon as they’re inside, the ones guarding the front shut the door and stand completely in front of it with crossed arms.

They enter the spacious lobby with the check-in desk straight ahead. The tiled marble floor is of black and gold; gold being the ongoing theme throughout the building’s interior. There’s a staircase curving up the sides of the wall leading to the higher floors with golden angels at the end of the banisters. The stairs were carpeted, leading to the upper floors being covered in the same burgundy carpet.

The men do not move toward the desk but instead toward the stairs where a couple of men dressed in the fine attire of a formal businessman. The two smiled at party as they approached. The man wearing black slacks and a red button shirt with sleeves folded up to the elbow was tall and had black hair styled back with a few bangs down his forehead.

The man with the green button shirt and navy blue slacks is half a foot shorter than the other man with blond hair styled with his hair parted at the upper corner of his head.

Good day, Prime Minister Takayanagi, the man in the red button shirt said.

Yes, good day to you too, President Drugov, the man in the green button shirt said.

The gentlemen being so heavily guarded were world leaders. The shorter man with glasses and moles under his eyes wearing the red and white tie clip was and still is a fairly isolated country for the most part. He was never willing to let his country create many ties with others unless it suited the country in a large way.

However, Derexen’s rise was looking to change that, leaving him as one of the few holdouts. Because of his country’s technology, Prime Minister Takayanagi’s country ranks out in the top ten of the nearly two hundred world countries. The idea of Derexen becoming the one he needed to answer to whilst sharing his technological advances did not sit well with him. However, in an effort to avoid war, he has come to have a sit down.

President Drugov, a nearly balled, but fairly fit man with an opposing demeanor had been a world power for nearly a decade. He’s been known through the world to love power while having a soft but firm love for his countrymen.

Fighting corruption in his own country, he tends to point out the faults in other countries in an attempt to mask his own doings. Nonetheless, President Drugov was not only respected as a strong leader, he’s one of the first to halt Derexen’s advances for world domination.

My name is Louie, the man in the red button shirt said. "Me and my
