The House on Pepper Street - Anita Owen
INTRODUCTION
My name is Anita Owen. Spectralology and the paranormal have always interested me. Since I was a child, I have experienced many different types of paranormal phenomena. Sometimes they were visions that were religious in nature and sometimes the events were supernatural. Many times I have seen auras around people. I didn't know what this was at a young age. Then I met my future husband. He knew what I was seeing and hearing. He helped train me.
Some people have been given gifts. They can be afraid of the supernatural or they can embrace it. Although I am not a clairvoyant I can feel and sense things that will happen—sometimes far into the future and sometimes tomorrow. I don't give any readings. I feel this has always been private to me. Once, while trying to help a woman go into a trance, I myself went in and gave information. The person who wanted to see if she could contact spirits and travel out of her body was on a sofa. She had a radio playing and a bowl of water next to her. Water is said to attract spirit matter. Actually, natural flowing water will, not a bowl. She did not listen to me on that one. As I sat there, suddenly a voice came through. I didn't know what I said; luckily there had been a tape recorder going and I was later able to hear what occurred during the trance. An American Indian by the name of Shekock, (pronounced she-cook) came into me. To my knowledge, I had never before channeled spirits. Shekock said to get rid of the noise—meaning the radio. Shekock said that he was Potawatomi. He also said he was from an area called Sag Tuck
. I think it is now called Saugatuck. When this entity left me, I fell onto the floor. That is when I found out that I had been taken over by a spirit.
Decades before there were mediums on television and shows like Ghost Hunter
, my husband and I were asked into private homes and businesses that were experiencing strange occurrences. This was the 1970s and we did not have all the technology that is now available. Fred was a trance-medium
and I was very sensitive. We could go into houses or businesses and he would connect with the entity by ESP or feeling. As a sensitive I could determine if the location’s vibe was dark, sad, good, etc. Fred would give messages to the people who requested us or tell them what was going on. Usually that was it. Sometimes entities just wanted acknowledgment that they were there. Never did we encounter a demon
entity. We did find a few angry spirits—ones that left this earth too soon or had unfinished material business.
This was years before people could talk openly about supernatural subjects and not be ridiculed or worse. Remember, when I was doing this with my husband, it was long before the general public gave much serious thought about spirits. People who knew me thought it weird. Some parishioners at my church called me a witch
. I was not, nor ever have been, a witch
. Also, I was afraid of notoriety. I was concerned that I could not handle it. I now have a lot of answers to questions that most experts
in the field cannot even answer.
Journey with me as we explore the events that occurred to a family over the course of a year and determine what may have been haunting them. The story you are about to read is true.
