Kit Daniels Dinosaur Girl

About this ebook
Kit’s attempt to ride bareback on a baby triceratops named Topsy goes terribly wrong when his three horned, elephant-size mother intervenes. Action and adventure reign supreme and pandemonium breaks out on the film set as the giant beast runs amok. Chase attempts to distract the huge animal only to end up running for his own life. There are comic situations, and scary showdowns, but never a dull moment. KIT DANIELS DINOSAUR GIRL is an exciting adventure for all ages and both genders.
BONUS FEATURE: Thomas P. Hopp describes the science behind this work of fiction. He shows how the fearsome horns of Triceratops weren’t its only weapons. The huge beak could deliver a deadly bite, and here's the fossil evidence to prove it.

He advised the team that created Immunex’s blockbuster arthritis drug Enbrel. He developed the first commercially successful nanotechnology device, a molecular handle for manipulating proteins at the atomic level, which is used by medical researchers around the world to study human cells and every major microbe known to science.Tom’s NORTHWEST TALES are thrillers set against backdrops of disaster, whether natural or man-made. Earthquakes, eruptions, and epidemics are grist for these gripping adventures. Tom’s mystery stories follow Dr. Peyton McKean, a super-intelligent sleuth known as “The Greatest Mind Since Sherlock Holmes.” Viruses, microbes, and evil geniuses form the core of his opposition. Tom’s DINOSAUR WARS science fiction stories read like “Star Wars meets Jurassic Park.” Featuring laser-blasting space invaders and huge beasts from the past, they follow Yellowstone Park naturalist Chase Armstrong and Montana rancher’s daughter Kit Daniels, who struggle to survive in a world where dinosaurs live again. Most of Tom’s tumultuous adventures are suitable for readers young and old.

KIT’S STARRING ROLE
Chapter 1
Twin Creeks Cattle Ranch had never hosted a Hollywood film production company, but there was a first time for everything. Not far from the front porch of the old ranch house a long, shed-like trailer had been pulled up and parked. Inside, Kit Daniels sat at a lightbulb-encircled mirror while the film company’s makeup artist, Guye Flambeau, touched up her lipstick with a fine-tipped liner brush.
Look who’s a little nervous about her first film shoot,
Guye said.
How can you tell?
Kit asked.
You keep biting your lip and getting lipstick on your teeth. Bite any harder and it’ll be blood. Now, stop that! Smile so I can clean those teeth—again.
He daubed away the red with a tissue. You’ve got to calm down, Girly. You’re making a mess out of my best efforts.
Kit frowned at her own reflection in the mirror as Guye retouched her lips. The cowgirl in her rankled at the face powder, eyeliner, lip liner, blush, blonde highlights in her sandy colored hair, and she forgot what all else after several hours in front of the mirror.
Kit’s friend Maddy Meyer looked over her shoulder, gushing, I can’t believe my besty is going to be a TV star!
Kit gave an eye-rolling, exasperated sigh.
You’re not helping,
Guye wagged his liner brush at Maddy’s reflection in the mirror. You’re just making her more nervous.
Kit frowned, Wouldn’t you be nervous, Maddy?
Not really. I’d be like, ‘Hey everybody, look at me! I’m the famous Kit Daniels who saved the world from laser-blasting dinosaurs from outer space. How are you today?’
Flambeau finished his lip-lining, then stepped back and looked Kit over. That’s got it! Everything’s just right. How do you like yourself, Star Girl?
Kit pouted her lips, inspected them closely in the mirror, and then frowned some more. I think that shade of lipstick is too dark.
If the Director says that’s the shade, then that’s the shade it’s gonna be.
What do you think, Maddy?
I think it’s pretty.
It’s pretty dramatic, I’d say. Too dramatic.
Drama!
Flambeau flourished his delicate hands. That’s what Hollywood is all about, Honey. Kit Daniels, Dinosaur Girl! Such a great name for a TV series. You and a different dinosaur every week.
You’re going to be famous!
Maddy said. I just know you are.
Kit was un-swayed. She stood up and went to a full-length light-lined mirror. I’m not so sure I like the way I’m dressed—or undressed.
Her costume, also mandated by the Director, was little more than a pair of blue, skintight short shorts, cowboy boots, and a skimpy bra top of leopard-spotted fabric that would have suited a major league football cheerleader.
Maddy giggled. Not your usual cattle-driving outfit, is it?
That’s not funny. I’m not used to putting so much of me out there to be stared at.
Relax Kit,
Maddy took on a mischievous grin. "You look great. If I had a body like yours, I’d show it off too. You’re trim, fit, and—with those bare legs and midriff—you’re gonna get a lot of attention from the boys."
If you’ve got it, flaunt it, Honey!
Guye said.
Thanks for the compliments, guys, but I’d feel a lot more comfortable in my good old blue jeans and western shirt. I’m only doing this because Richard Stanley insisted the outfit was part of the contract I signed—right down to the bright lipstick and heavy eyeliner.
Guye clucked his tongue. There’s nothing wrong with emphasizing your natural feminine beauty.
Get with the program,
Maddy said. Put on some ‘sexy’ and have fun with it!
Kit’s expression lightened as she glanced again at the mirror. I suppose it might be fun.
Roll with it, Honey,
said Guye. Pretty soon they’ll be saying Kit Daniels is the sexiest paleontologist in the world!
It isn’t some kind of competition.
You’d win, hands down,
Maddy said. Besides, I hear you’ve got a multimillion-dollar deal!
Never mind how much.
But I’m right. Aren’t I?
Kit couldn’t suppress a giggle. I couldn’t tell them no, could I?
For that kind of money,
Maddy said, the daughter of a poor old cattle rancher can show a lot of skin. Don’t you want to feel attractive? Be the center of attention? Make other women jealous of you? Make every man wish he could date you?
No!
Kit said firmly. The only guy I want to date is Chase Armstrong.
Maddy shrugged. Chase is a nice guy and all, but you’ve got a golden opportunity here. A star is someone everybody wants to know—including movie stars, rich and powerful men, sports heroes.
Maybe an Arab oil sheik!
Guye tossed in. That’d be my choice.
