Fantasy Surrender - Lori King
Chapter
1
We’ve been married for nearly five years. If you can’t figure out what I want by now, there’s no hope
for
you
.
Parker Brooks chewed on a piece of beef jerky as his wife’s words ran through his brain over and over again. Rachel had been as exasperated as he was confused by their conversation. He was her husband and her Dom, not a goddamn psychic. Casually rocking the swing with his booted foot, he stared across the wide-open Texas acreage without really focusing on anything.
He adored his wife, and he would give her the moon if he could, but anniversaries were about a material displays of affection, right? He had to find something to give her that would convey all the words in his head because there was no way he’d be able to say them without screwing
it
up
.
Fucking hell. Women were a lot
of
work
.
Daddy? Whatcha doing out here?
His four-year-old daughter, Juliet, climbed the porch steps with her arms full of a fluffy, gray kitten.
Hey, princess.
Parker reached down to lift her onto the cushioned seat next to him with one arm. She settled easily against his side and the moment she stopped moving, the kitten in her arms went wild, making her giggle. "Looks like Mr. Mouse
wants
down
."
Nah, he’s just excited about our tea party this afternoon. Mama said she’d put real tea in the tea pot this time.
Juliet beamed up at him, her sweet smile and large brown eyes melting their way through
Parker’s
soul
.
That sounds like fun. What does Mr. Mouse do at a fancy tea party like that?
Parker had been the guest at dozens of tea parties thrown by his daughter, so he had a pretty good idea of how not-excited the kitten would be about
attending
one
.
Mostly just meow. Last time he knocked Tanner-bear off his chair and the pink plate got broke.
Parker nodded as he imagined the chaos the unruly kitten had probably caused.
And what did Mama have to say about the broken pink plate?
She said kittens don’t like tea,
Juliet’s tiny nose wrinkled up, and she shrugged, and Mr. Mouse was probably not happy I put a hat on him for the party.
Ah ha. And did she also say next time you shouldn’t invite Mr. Mouse?
I just love him so much.
Nodding her blonde head, Juliet squeezed the cat tightly against her chest. I don’t want him to get lonely in the barn while I’m at the party.
Oh, I’m pretty certain he’ll be just fine out there. There are other cats to play with and mice to chase, remember? Hey, maybe you can get Papa to come to the party?
Parker offered, throwing his younger brother Hudson under the bus. As part of a polyamorous marriage, Parker was one of four husbands to his wife Rachel, Juliet’s mother. He shared her with his three brothers, Rogan, Sawyer, and Hudson, which meant it was even more important he come up with a spectacular anniversary gift because his brothers surely would.
Yeah!
Juliet exclaimed, releasing Mr. Mouse, and pushing off the swing with a thump. She ran toward the front door hollering for Hudson all the way. "Papa, I gotta talk
to
you
!"
As the screen door slammed shut, Parker silently patted himself on the back for the quick thinking and reached for the bag of beef jerky in his shirt pocket, again.
That was mean,
Rachel’s voice tinkled on the air like wind chimes, making his heart stutter. He looked into her beautiful face and as always, he couldn’t breathe for a moment. Her blonde hair was shorter now and her hips slightly wider, but she was still the most gorgeous woman he’d ever seen in
his
life
.
Hey, Sunshine, I was just thinking ‘bout you.
He reached for her as she drew close, pulling her onto his lap and stealing a kiss from her parted lips. When they broke apart, her eyelids had grown heavy and her cheeks were flushed.
Damn, cowboy. Those were some seriously dirty thoughts you must have been having.
She stroked her fingernail over his jawline to his lips and then tapped them. Shame on you for being such a pervert.
A low growl rumbled from his throat, and he bent to bite her earlobe before murmuring, "You have no idea how perverted my thoughts actually are, Sunshine. It’s been
too
long
."
Yes, it has,
Rachel let out a shaky sigh and nodded. "Maybe we should try to find a weekend to go to the club? Just you
and
me
?"
Done. How about next weekend?
No,
she giggled, shaking her head, Juliet has a dance recital on Saturday, and John has soccer practice Sunday afternoon.
Parker loved watching his three-year-old son, John, play soccer, but he loved playing with his wife even more. When they’d first started their relationship, he’d been a little reluctant to show her how really dark he liked sex, but from the first moment she’d called him Sir, he was hers. She might wear the collar—or ankle bracelet in this case—but she owned him just as soundly as he
owned
her
.
The weekend after, I have to help at the Keegan’s with branding. Then they’re coming over the next weekend to help us,
Parker said forlornly as Rachel scooted onto the cushion next to him, taking the seat his daughter had vacated.
Right, then it’s Easter weekend, and my mom will be here for a couple of weeks,
Rachel said. This time of year is chaotic.
When isn’t our life chaotic?
Parker snorted and kissed the top of her head as he wrapped his arm around her. "And you want to have
another
baby
?"
She shrugged and remained silent. She’d only mentioned it recently, but with Juliet in school now, and John starting preschool in the fall, Parker knew it was heavy on her mind. He’d happily try for more children. They had the space and the finances for it, so he’d be willing to have a dozen if it made Rachel happy. Her feelings were paramount, and he knew his brothers would agree.
Would you change things?
Rachel asked softly. "If you could go back five years, before the dance recitals, soccer practices, tea parties, and tree
houses
—
"
And broken arms?
he finished for her with a laugh. Hell no. I love our life. Why? What’s got you all melancholy, lately?
I don’t know,
Rachel sighed heavily. I guess I feel like it’s all so normal. So easy. Like there’s no excitement or thrill anymore.
"Is this like a midlife crisis? Do you need to go bungee jumping or something because that’s Sawyer’s
gig
not
—
"
She elbowed him cutting off his words. No! Nothing like that. I’m going to be thirty this year, and it feels like everything exciting has already happened. I met the man of my dreams, fell in love, got married, had children…
You mean me, right? I’m the man of your dreams?
Parker asked, frowning down
at
her
.
"Men. Damn it. I’m not literal here. I guess I miss the thrill of anticipation. The chase. Remember that night at Robin’s when you and your brothers set out to
seduce
me
?"
Parker nodded, trying to keep up with her train of thought, but seriously contemplating calling for assistance.
That night, I felt butterflies in my belly for the first time. I felt desirable and wanted. You guys did that for me. The whole weekend, you spent all your time making me the center of attention. It was spectacular.
You’re still the center of our world.
I know, but it’s not the same. Once you’re married, it’s like you don’t have to work for it anymore.
She gave him a funny look and then huffed, Never mind. Forget it. I’m not making any sense to my own ears much less yours. I better go check on Jules and make sure she isn’t trying to put the cat in a dress for tea. John will be up soon from his nap, do you think you can handle him while we have our tea party?
Done. I’ll be in shortly.
Rachel bent and pressed a kiss to his lips. Thanks, cowboy, you’re awesome.
Parker watched her ass sway as she walked away, his cock twitching to life as it always did when she was near. She had a body made for sin, and she loved the feeling of his flogger or palm on her backside. Before having the kids, they’d been able to play regularly. There were still times when he got to spend one-on-one time with his wife, but they were fewer and farther between as daily life got in the way. Sure, he could force the issue, but it might cause waves for everyone.
I felt desirable and wanted. I miss… the chase.
As Parker chewed on the new information from his wife, an idea began to grow in his head, and suddenly, he knew exactly what to get his wife for their anniversary. He would make sure his sub got exactly what she needed from her Dom
this
year
.
Chapter
2
What do you mean Parker isn’t joining us?
Rachel wanted to stomp her foot in frustration at her husbands. Three of the four sat around the dinner table she’d so carefully laid with their nicest dishes and a delicious new wine she’d been wanting to try. She waved off her upset as if Parker missing their anniversary dinner was no
big
deal
.
He’ll see you in a little while,
Rogan assured her, reaching for her hand, and lifting it to kiss her knuckles.
Sawyer gave her a wink from his seat across from her. He’s got something good planned for you, baby. Don’t worry.
I’m not worried about what he has for me. I’m upset he missed the dinner I planned for him. I thought we were all going to spend the night together since the kids are at the Thompsons.
Greedy wench,
Rogan said with a laugh. You’ll get all four of us, so stop pouting.
I’m not pouting,
she grumbled, reaching for her wine glass. She was pouting, but she couldn’t help herself. None of her husbands had ever missed their anniversary dinner and while she was curious about what Parker had planned, she wasn’t ready to excuse his
absence
yet
.
How about we give you our gifts before we eat?
Hudson said, trying to ease her temper and keep the peace as always.
Rachel forced Parker from her mind to focus her attention on each man as he presented her with an envelope. Lifting Sawyer’s first, she smiled at the masculine handwriting across the front that said, ‘For my Baby.’ Inside was a gift card
that
read
,
Roses
are
red
,
Violets
are
blue
,
I don’t write poetry.
I
cook
.
A laugh burst out of her, and she nearly dropped the rest of the gift as she passed the handmade note to Rogan, so he could
see
it
.
Oh, my God, that’s hilarious,
she panted, trying to calm her mirth and focus on the small paper still
to
read
.
You’re definitely not the poet of the family,
Rogan agreed with a nod, passing the card to Hudson, who laughed when he
read
it
.
Read the rest, baby,
Sawyer prompted. He was grinning ear to ear as she read the other piece
out
loud
.
This certificate entitles the bearer to one four-day, three-night stay at the Merrimont Resort in Salt Springs, New Mexico. Included are accommodations for two, dining and beverages, and six cooking lessons in various culinary techniques for you and your partner.
Rachel looked at Sawyer’s grinning face in surprise. You got us a vacation to go cook together?
Yep, and it’s just going to be you and me for four days,
Sawyer said with a sharp nod. There’s a whole list of classes we can choose from that teach various things, and I thought with your newfound interest in pastry making, maybe we could check that out together.
Rising to her feet, she hurried around the table to plant a kiss on her husband's upturned lips. He tugged her into his lap and deepened it until she was pressing closer, her body craving him. One of the other two cleared their throat, and she pulled away smiling.
Thank you, Sawyer. I love it. We’re going to have so much fun together.
Before Sawyer has you naked on the table, you’d better open the other gifts, honey.
Hudson was smiling at her embrace with his brother and for the billionth time, she sent up a silent prayer of thanks for her wonderful family. She never pictured herself happily married to four brothers, but damned if she didn’t get lucky.
Reaching for the next envelope, she noted Rogan’s more elegant handwriting on the word Sexy.
Inside was a store-bought greeting card that was sentimental and touching, and her eyes burned with unshed tears.
I love you too, Ro,
she murmured in a husky voice, looking up at him. And then looked at the other paper in the envelope. It was a gift certificate in a substantial amount. "This is for
the
spa
!"
Yep,
Rogan nodded, "it’s for you and your mom to go get pampered while she’s here for Easter. I thought you could probably use some
girl
time
."
Aw!
Once again, she jumped to her feet, but this time, she planted a kiss on Rogan’s full lips. "You’re
the
best
!"
I know,
Rogan shrugged.
Hey, you haven’t opened mine yet. It could be even better,
Hudson protested.
You guys spoil me,
Rachel said, wiping the moisture from her eyes before she opened the next envelope. "I don’t deserve all
of
this
."
Of course, you do,
Hudson protested. "You’re not only an amazing wife, but you’re also the mother of our children. Anyone who can put up with the four of us and our offspring
deserves
—
"
Olympic Gold,
Sawyer interjected, making her laugh.
Silver maybe, not gold. I’m not perfect,
Rachel teased back, pulling Hudson’s gift out of the envelope. He’d written nothing on it, but she’d have known it was from him, anyway. It smelled of his spicy cologne and made her body ache
for
him
.
Inside she found a flashy postcard emblazoned with the silhouette of a beautiful woman wearing lingerie. Before she could read the words, Hudson explained.
It’s an appointment to go and have photos taken, but not like they do at the department store. These will be by a real photographer. They call them Boudoir shots because they’re so sexy,
he looked so pleased with himself, she put aside her initial reaction of horror and reached for a kiss from him. There was no way she was going to tell him the idea of posing in her panties for a photo made her stomach turn. She knew it would please
