EVOLUTIONS OF BODY LANGUAGE
The science of body language is a fairly new area of study, dating back to 60 years ago. Though a lot of the modern body languages we employ and respond to are as old as the first humans.
Either you’re telling people how you're keen on them, you’re angry with them, or really couldn’t care less about them-- your body reveals all your thoughts,
feelings and attitudes. Each one consciously and sub-consciously tells the
observer what is really happening with you on the inside. Whether we consciously realize it or not, this sub-communication is happening all around us, all the time.
Psychologists, zoologists, and anthropologists have researched into the components of body language which is part of the larger whole known as non-verbal communications.
In a competitive and sophisticated world, the power to speak with clarity,
confidence, and credibility is significant. Too often, this ability is overlooked and frankly undermined. Sound reasoning, reasonable conclusions and groundbreaking solutions are rendered senseless if the delivery of that message is not communicated in a way that persuades, motivates, and instills confidence in the audience.
Daily, your body is relaying messages about your thinking, your
mood, and your general state of being. You confirm what messages
you relay verbally by how you utilize your body-- both consciously and unconsciously, with a higher percentage on the subconscious (unless you’re a professional who has deliberate control and precision with body language communications).
Although visual communication began with our ancient ancestors long before
vocal sounds became subtle words, phrases, and paragraphs -- only
in the last sixty years visual body language communications has been taken more seriously as an area of study.
During this time, appreciation of the value of visual communication as a tool for enhancing social communication has grown. Politicians, actors, and high-profile personalities now recognize the role their bodies play in conveyance of their messages.
Whether you hold your head high, can it in contriteness, or drop it in despair, the means by which you position your head reveals what you think of the person or issue you’re encountering at the present. However, you place and move your head indicates whether or not you’re being aggressive, coquettish, or bored.
Head movements have several functions and they can reveal attitudes, partially replace the spoken word, and support or challenge assertions. You can steer somebody to look or move towards a specific direction by swinging your head to guide him, or you can point along with your head and left finger which could be termed rude or
