Introduction
In general practice, there would be at least ten years before any research findings to reach the general public, even with the modern telecommunication and social media, the length of time for circulation could be shorten a bit but the speed might still considerate slow. The rationale of this publication is to briefly clarify the concept of psychology and some professional practise, identify the parallel key concepts in psychology between the tenets of the west and the east across time, and illustrate the western embracing therapeutic practices with the ancient oriental ideologies. By describing how far the psychologist has done in research and practice since they got off the couch in the Freud’s psychoanalysis clinic, and wish to inspire more research about the roots of psychology.
This little book fleshes out the multicultural perspective of contemporary psychology as well as root of psychology further in ancient Chinese philosophy perspective through an ancient Chinese treatise, Yellow Emperor Internal Medicine, volume Su Wen (Huang Di Nei Jing - Su Wen; 黃帝內經•素問). As a forerunner of neuropsychology, developmental psychology, and health psychology more than 2,200 years ago, Yellow Emperor Internal Medicine - Su Wen proclaims the correlations of diet and health, neuroskeletal system to physical and mental health, ethic and practitioner, environmental impacts to physical and mental health, also nerve system (meridian system; 經脈) to physical and mental disease. Then briefly talked about the waves of psychology, and instantiates the embracement of the eastern philosophy into the western clinician application, which illustrates through two different types of contemporary treatments, namely, mindfulness based cognitive therapy and energy psychology.
For ease of reference, the Traditional Chinese character is listed with the English translation from reference source, and I mainly quoted information retrieved from the corporate website of American Psychological Association, British Psychological Society and Canadian Psychological Association; nevertheless, with hundreds of thousands professionals in research and practice around the globe the list is not exhausted, and the information is not completed.
What Is Psychology All About?
Once I was sitting next to a very decent lady with African ancestry on a bus, no sooner we struck up a merry conversation until the moment of my disclosure being a psychology undergraduate, she instantly pull away from me within the tiny area of the bus seat, and announced aloud not wanting to have her mind screened by me. Similarly, a pleasant conversation over a birthday lunch with my landlord of Philippines ancestry was interrupted, because he was skeptical about me reading his mind while we chatted. At one point, my friend who worked with the city told me that her department suddenly adopted a practice to begin the meeting by announcing the psychology of the meeting. Zillions of times my friends and relatives either commented about my studies in psychology being unscientific and irrelevant to the reality, or I should be an expert in manipulation and human politics, and they merely linked psychology to Sigmund Freud’s theory about consciousness, without mentioned the confusion between psychiatry, clinical psychology and counseling psychology.

The list could go on and on. All these years, the misconception about psychology perplexed me, so I wish this chapter could succinctly explain the science of psychology in brief.
Ideas and concepts of psychology conceived hundreds of centuries before psychology became a formal discipline (Baldwin, 1913), its historic origin of root could trace back as far
