About this ebook

Grace Parker ...
Graces’ parents had paid for her to go on a cruise. She was waiting for her divorce to be final. Her marriage to Charlie had left her lonely and anti-men after his emotional abuse...

Alex Papadakos ...
Alex’ divorce was finalized. He turned down a single cruise with his friends and instead chose to go on a quieter family cruise. He was finished with all women until he saw the gorgeous woman in the royal blue butterfly bikini...

Their time together was intense...
“Grace, when was the last time that you ate, or drank anything?” It was time to bring the caregiver out.
She smiled just a little, and it tore my guts out. “Alex, I didn’t eat anything earlier because I wanted to fit into that string slingshot.” She giggled, and I couldn’t help but laugh with her. “So not only am I on fire, but I’m starved half to death, and thirsty too. What do you think we should do first?”
I know what I wanted to do, but that was not one of the choices. I examined Grace systematically to see how dire her situation was. “You haven’t seen how bad you are burned yet, have you?” She shook her head slightly. The mirror was on the other side of the wall from her bed. “Come and see for yourself.”

    Chapter 1

I watched the hairy chest contest that was happening on the Lido deck below. My parents had paid for me to go on this cruise, and I wondered why I’d ever agreed to go. It was the first fun day at sea, and the weather was perfect for cruising across the salty ocean spray. The guys that were participants in the contest going on below weren’t what I’d call hairy really, but they were entertaining. I even giggled out loud when I watched them strutting around in their swim suits to ‘I’m too sexy for my shirt.' I lost interest as soon as the one named Charlie was announced as one of the final five. If his name was Charlie, I didn’t want to watch anymore. I’d had enough Charlie to last me for the rest of my life.

Thoroughly slathering myself in sunscreen, then donning my floppy hat and sunglasses, I leaned back into my lounge chair and adjusted my bikini one more time. I’d never worn one before, and it felt sinful. The only reason I wore it now was that my girlfriend had switched it out on me without my knowledge. I’d packed my one-piece suit in black, and now I was almost wearing a dark royal blue suit with a dental floss bottom, and butterfly nipple covers that almost didn’t cover that much. Oh well, I was here for the sun, and these people would never see me again.

I was startled awake by the thumping sounds playing on the lido deck. I had no idea how long I had been asleep, but it was chillier than it had been.

I’m glad you woke up. I was worried that I might have to find a medic to wake you. Oh, my God, where was that sexy voice coming from? Has anyone ever told you that you don’t fall asleep that long wearing something that sizzling with your skin color?

The voice was coming from a man who had a bright halo of sun radiating behind him. I couldn’t see him because my sunglasses had fallen off while I’d been sleeping and were now nowhere to be seen. I lifted my hand to shade my eyes so that I could see who it was that was speaking to me like I was a child.

I’m old enough to make my own choi… I wanted to take back the words that I had already said as soon as I saw his face. …choices. How long have I been asleep? I had covered myself pretty thoroughly with sunscreen; he really had no need to worry about me.

You were asleep when I got here an hour ago, but I recall seeing you from across the deck at least an hour before you were asleep. I watched as he slowly reached over and poked at my arm with his finger. You are way over done, Love.

I had to stop myself from looking around to see who he was talking to. I know he had just poked my arm and ouch hadn’t made it out of my mouth yet. For a moment, I was shocked into silence when I heard him say, ‘Love.' Ouch, that smarts. Well, that’s just freaking great. My first day at sea, and I’m sunburned. I tried to pull myself up into a sitting position, and the look on my face spurred the sexy beast sitting up next to me into action.

He was very muscular; I’d heard the term ripped and now I knew what it meant. He had to be over six feet tall, dark almost black hair. His lips were full and generous, and the thought popped into my head that they were made for kissing.

You’re going to hurt all over, let me help you up. I didn’t know how anyone that was that muscular could be so gentle, but he was as he carefully helped me sit up from my prone fully cooked position.

I’ve never been sunburned before, and definitely not this much of me at one time. I’d forgotten how exposed I was and glanced down quickly to make sure all the important parts were still covered. I was mortified; there was a little nipple peeking out from behind the butterfly. I made a quick adjustment and was glad that I was already beet red from my sunburn; I knew I was flushed from the awkwardness.

He turned his head for a moment. Either he was embarrassed, or he was truly a gentleman giving me time to pull myself together. Either way, I know I had flashed him. This would have been a whole lot less uncomfortable if I’d been wearing my black one piece.

But not nearly as stimulating. Oh, my god, did he really just say that? I’m sorry, um miss… That was uncalled for. Is there someone that I can have paged to help you get back to your Cabin? A boyfriend…sister…girlfriend?

How did I tell this man that looked like he’d just come from the pages of every women’s fantasy calendar, that I was alone on this cruise? Hello, my name is Grace, and I’m unlovable, boring, and all alone. No, I can find my way back to my cabin by myself. I tried to put my arm out to shake his hand and winced at the tightness and soreness that quick movement had caused.

I don’t think so, Love. You’re already starting to feel the burn I noticed him looking on the deck around me for something.

Did you lose something? He moved his face closer to mine. Close enough that I saw that he had the craziest eyes that I had ever seen. His eyes were speckled, literally like an Easter egg, speckled. I couldn’t stop the next words from popping out of my mouth. What do you put down under eye color? I watched one side of his full lips raise, and he answered.

Now where did that come from? He was too close for my usual comfort, but I could see clearly how perfect his teeth were, and his speckled eyes were surrounded by the longest dark lashes that I’d ever seen on a man. His hair was longish on top but cropped close on the sides, and the slight breeze was blowing a loose strand around.

I had to swallow before I could speak. Your eye color. I don’t think I’ve ever seen speckled listed as one of the choices. He tossed his head back and laughed, and chills coursed throughout my entire body as soon as I heard that sexy sound. Then his eyes flickered over my butterfly top. Obviously, the goose bumps had made my nipples hard, and he couldn’t help but notice. God this was awkward.

Nobody’s ever challenged my answer of hazel; it kind of encompasses all the colors I’d say. He was staring back at my eyes now. Your eyes match the color of your swimsuit. I’ve never seen blue eyes so intense. We just stared into each other’s eyes for a few seconds, and I had to swallow again.

Thank you for waking me. That was pretty careless on my part. I had to find my cover-up to toss over my nakedness. His stare was doing crazy things to my breathing, and I don’t think I’d ever been this turned on by a man’s stare before.

Whatever it is you’re looking for, I can help you find if you just tell me what it is.

Maybe he could help. If I moved to much one way or the other while searching, my nipple would peek out again. Thank you; I need to find my cover-up. I saw him glance at the butterflies again. It’s getting a little chilly for this swim suit. I wish my nipples had an off button, he was trying not to stare, but the whole experience was causing havoc to the small butterflies that were trying to rein them in.

I heard him clear his throat. What color is it? I see a lacy white thing lying under your bag. Could that, be it? He reached down to grab onto the end of it while I went to peek under my chair, and we cracked heads.

I fell back down on the lounge chair rubbing my head. I saw him wincing as he cupped his forehead. Stay right there, Love. Let me grab it for you. I did as I was told, and felt his hair tickle my sunburned skin as he bent over me.

Let me help you get this on. He set the cover on his lap and pulled me up into a sitting position.

I must have winced and was already feeling worse than I had minutes ago. He was trying to find the easiest way to slip the cover onto my arm, but my skin was tender, and my arm wouldn’t cooperate at all. I’ve got a better idea. I’ll help you back to your cabin, and make sure that you have everything you need for the night. I don’t think you’re going to want to put anything on your skin for a little while. Where’s your key?

If this was his usual pick up line, it was working. I was ready to tell him anything he wanted if it would just get me back to my room where I could shut the door, and hide. It’s in my bag. I’ll stay here and let you dive for it.

Good idea. He said as he rubbed at his forehead again.

He fished through the contents of my beach bag then finally pulled out my key. We stood up together; I wanted to take a few minutes just to appreciate his magnificent body in silence. He noticed me staring, and I saw that lazy half smile that he’d used on me earlier.

Let me help you, Love. I think you’re going to hurt more than you realize.

I was hell bent on proving him wrong. I’m fine; I can do this… Oh my God, how does a simple sunburn stop you from moving? I felt myself tearing up. It hurt like crazy.

"Are you alright? You poor baby, it hurts, doesn’t it? God, I should shoot myself for not waking you sooner. I just couldn’t help
