CHAPTER I.

He was just a poor hardworking farm boy, with no delusions of grandeur and definitely no declared dreams of ambition. He had been raised in a remote farming community near the town of Littan (population: 228) near Spokane, Washington, USA and he thought he’d die there too.

But of course, every young farm boy dreamed of leaving his small town to have adventures among the glittering lights of the big city and to pursue his dreams and Max was no different.

Max had worked hard all his life, feeding the pigs and horses, tending to the land, and just doing general farm chores.

The work was boring and monotonous, but he had never complained to his mother, whom he had nicknamed ‘The Slavedriver.’

But he was 19 now and he was becoming desperate to leave his small town.

And he realized his desperation one day when he was out feeding the pigs.

With his shoulder-length dark hair tied back, wearing a pair of oversized blue overalls and giant gloves, he looked like the typical farmer’s boy. He even had the hardened black eyes of someone used to the arduous life of a farmer. The only part of his body he was proud of was his skin. He cleaned and moisturized daily and always had silky smooth light skin.

That was what Luis always liked about him. Luis was a farm hand that Max’s mother had hired one spring.
