DEDICATION
This Short Story is dedicated to my new husband Tim, as the Outer Banks is his most favorite place to vacation. It was in our beach rental, our first time there together, that this story was born. It is also dedicated to our Pug, Effie as she taught me just how smart Pugs are, as well as how a Pug behaves in times of duress.. This story would not have been written if it wasn’t for both Tim and Effie.
Overworking can be harmful your life; the decision is yours.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
I must thank my dear friend Kathy McCaffrey for believing in my work so much that she took on the arduous task of editing this story. For whatever reason, we lost touch for approximately 30 years and just reconnected the beginning of this year!. When things like this happen you can’t help but wonder if they are heaven sent.
This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.

CHAPTER I
The Brookes family, which includes Isabella, her husband Kent and their only child sweet Little Izzy; as well as their adorable Pug Ethel, pulled up to their rental bungalow in Hatteras Island. This was the first time Little Izzy, age six, had ever left Delaware for more than one day. The long drive to Hatteras seems to take forever for a child her age. She was so excited to finally see The Big House,
since her Mom had told her about it each time her little girl had asked her, and she asked quite often. We are calling it ‘The Big House’ since there are many outside steps to the top,
her Mom would describe. Since Little Izzy hadn’t been on a vacation before this one, the house located in Hatteras N.C. sounded to a small child like something out of a storybook her parents would read to her at night as she was falling asleep.
Little Izzy giggled sweetly, as Ethel the Pug started to eagerly climb those steep outside steps. She proceeded to follow her Pug up the stairs. Being very careful to check her balance on the way, her Mom stood behind
