About this ebook
For the past 18 years, Kate Williams has tried to forget the fateful summer in which her sister Lacie's disappearance ripped their family apart. But when their estranged mother unexpectedly dies and Kate inherits Villa Magda, the family's summer home on the Maine coast, Kate decides that enough time has passed. With the help of her husband, her son, and their close group of friends, Kate decides to face the past and go back to Villa Magda for one last trip.
But the sprawling, ocean-side house isn't as picturesque as it seems, and as the week goes on, inexplicable incidents and suspicious visitors begin to torment Kate, threatening to expose her deepest secrets. The closer Kate gets to learning the truth about what happened that summer, the faster she realizes the house might be holding more secrets than she can handle.
As tensions run high and friendships unravel, Kate starts to question her decision to return to Villa Magda. But when tragedy strikes and a body is found floating in the pool, questions arise that demand answers: What really happened at Villa Magda 18 years ago? How much did Kate know? And how can the house be stopped from claiming its next victim?
Set on a remote and gorgeous Maine estate, Lacie's Secrets is an exciting and cinematic psychological thriller with surprising twists that will keep the reader guessing until the very last page.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I just love Gothic novels and was so excited to get a copy of "Lacie’s Secrets" through the Early Reviewers' program. Any book with a creepy mansion just has to be a good read - what better setting for a creepy psychologicval thriller. "Lacie's Secrets" did not disappoint. When Kate Williams’ mother dies unexpectedly she inherits Villa Magda, a beautiful mansion off the coast of Maine. It has been eighteen years since Kate's sister Lacie went missing and Kate isn't looking forward to returning to Villa Magda. The authors, Holmqvist and Sorkin, tell Kate and Lacie's story through flashbacks, and as the story unfolds, the more sinister Villa Magda becomes.story is peeled through flash backs, the more sinister Villa Magda becomes. A dead body and buried secrets soon come to light and it is impossible to put this book down. A perfect summer beach read.

Kate’s sister Lacie disappeared while vacationing at their summer home on the coast of Maine. 18 years later Kate returns following the death of her estranged mother, for the first time since Lacie went missing. She brings her husband, son, and some family friends. They plan to stay a week, but as time goes by secrets are stirred up.
Kate has no memory of the events, and her husband Charlie is acting suspicious. Neither character is very likable. Kate’s visiting friends seem to argue all the time. I didn’t care about any of them.
The book was good but felt formulaic. I guessed some of the reveals but not all. This shows that you can never really know someone and what secrets they may be hiding.
I received a free ARC from LibraryThing and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was a bit frustrated with Kate at first, not telling her son or best friend about her sister's disappearance so long ago. But her mother's death brought everything back - except for memories of Lacie's last day. Was she guilty or was she suppressing terrible memories? This book was a roller coaster ride! Great book.
