    I Need You

    Dear Jesus,

Sometimes it’s so easy for me to forget just how much I need You. How many times have You tried to tell me something, and I haven’t listened? I need to listen more to Your soft, quiet voice. And how often have You tried to show me something, but I haven’t seen? I need to open my eyes to Your presence all around me. I need to take time to look up at the sky and down at the earth and to recognize the amazing works of Your hands. I need to open my heart to the needs of others so I can sympathize and empathize with them and serve them better.

Dear Jesus, I need You. With every day, every minute, every breath, I need You. Teach me to seek You more each day. Remind me that unless I take time to draw near to You, I will struggle to hear Your voice and to see all You have to show me. Jesus, when I read my Bible, reveal Yourself to me through Your words. Fill my heart with Your love and my spirit with Your strength. Wipe away the world’s distractions, and help me focus on You.

    I need You, Jesus.

We all need Jesus. Not only does He save us from our sins and open the way to heaven for us, Jesus also longs to save us from anything that stands in the way of our relationships with Him. Is there something keeping you from drawing nearer to Jesus? Write a prayer asking Jesus to remove anything that stands between you and Him. Ask Him to help you draw ever closer to Him.

Lord, the what-ifs and if-onlys keep sneaking into my head and stealing my ability to concentrate on what I need to do. They whisper and taunt me: What if I can’t do this? What if I can’t get it done in time? If only I didn’t have so much to do! If only I had someone to help me! Oh, Lord, help me remember that I do have Someone to help me—I have You!

Why is it so hard for me to remember to call on You first? I know You’re always with me and ready to help. I ask You to help me now, Lord Jesus. Remove all these what-ifs and if-onlys from my mind. Show me what is truly important. Sweep away what’s unnecessary and
