You really don’t want to end up on the www.badluck-youredead.com death list, because it could be the end of you!
Jordan Belmont is an ordinary fifteen year old in an ordinary high school who studies hard and achieves excellent grades. Until the day one of his classmates ends up dead and a mysterious new website suddenly appears on everyone’s social media radar. A website that not only shows a horrific video of his classmate’s death, but also has a death list, a list where you can add anyone from your school that you want murdered.
As the body count quickly climbs and the police have more suspects than clues, Jordan’s best friend Mike is drawn deeper into the bizarre murders, digging into the nether regions of the internet to find information the police don’t have. He’s become addicted to checking the site every second of every day, and finding the killer.
But Jordan, who doesn’t have one single social media account and only uses the internet for his higher education, surprises Mike with how much he already knows about the murders and the killer...and that puts them both in harm’s way.
Have Jordan and Mike found the Free Ridge High serial killer, or has the serial killer found them?

Chapter 1
Oh, my God.
Mike charged up to me in the school rec room and slammed his books onto the table. Have you seen that new website everyone on social media is talking about?
He sat down and slumped in the chair. It’s awesome, and I was up till early this morning checking it out.
I looked up from my assignment. What website? I was actually doing homework last night—
And the night before and the night before,
Mike cut in, pulling papers from a folder. You never have any fun, Jordy. You need to cut loose sometimes and actually get on social media—
I have a life.
I finished off a paragraph on sperm whales.
Bahahahaha.
Mike lolled around in his seat. No, you don’t. You’re probably the only kid in year ten at Free Ridge High that doesn’t have a life, and doesn’t have any social media pages.
He looked at me in all seriousness. "Dude, we have to get you online."
My head turned in his direction. "I do have a life, and no, I don’t need to get online. I shuffled a few papers looking for the notes I needed.
There are way too many problems with the kids at this school and what they’re putting online and all the hassles they get from each other and all the hassles they get into. I’m not interested in that garbage."
"But you might be interested in this." Mike pulled a pen from his case, and after sorting his own papers and ripping the corner off one of them, he scribbled something down and handed it to me.
www.badluck-youredead.com.
I fingered the paper as I read it. What’s this supposed to be about?
It sounded as bad as it looked. Even on paper.
Oh.
Mike sat up and grabbed my arm. "It’s the coolest thing. I was looking at every page and googling for details about it, but there wasn’t much there. You can upload videos of people dying in horrific ways and stuff, and you can have chats with other users and ask about the videos. He leaned in and lowered his voice.
There’s even a page where you can add the name of a person that you want to die." He looked furtively around the room making sure no one else heard him.
I stared at him, absolutely dumbfounded. You’re kidding?
He stared back in amusement. Isn’t it awesome!
*****
For the rest of the day all I heard was how awesome this badluck-youredead site was. In the hallways, whisperings in class, at lunchtime, even on the bus home when all the kids sat transfixed staring at videos on the website. I shook my head in disgust. What is so much fun about watching videos of people dying? At home I watched the news with my parents before finishing off my assignment. I would rather educate myself on the ways of the world than watch horrific stuff like that.

The next morning on the bus there were quiet whisperings and horrified expressions on my classmates’ faces. I didn’t know why until the Principal called an assembly.
Everyone, please be silent.
His voice boomed through the enormous confines of the school gym. His hand claps for our attention were short and sharp. We all quietened down.
I have been informed that one of our students, a year eleven girl by the name of Maybelle Ryder, died sometime during the night.
Soft gasps and murmurs went through five thousand school kids and I sat stunned by the news.
"We have been told there is
