The world is a lonely place without romance. It took me too many years to figure that out, but now that I have, I hope to infect others with its splendor. I’ve always loved the paranormal -- vampires, demons, angels, were-creatures and more. I also love a spicy tale and writing stories that are both has been a fantastic adventure. Sharing it with you makes it all the greater. Join me at www.forlorn-hope.net

Chapter One
Heather stared at her sister Theresa in disbelief. There was no helping it; Heather’s jaw dropped open. Teri, have you lost your marbles?
What?
Theresa laughed.
Mark is the perfect guy.
Absolutely perfect.
Theresa shrugged and flashed that magnetic disarming smile that rendered most helpless. It hadn’t worked on Heather since they were in grade school.
Heather answered with an arched eyebrow and a smirk.
Alright, I know. But it’s just not there.
Heather rolled her eyes and let out a guffaw.
I like him. He’s sweet and all…
But?
I don’t know. I just need something new. Something fresh.
Heather shook her head in further disbelief. She took a sip of coffee and tried to wrap her head around what her sister could be thinking. Theresa had always been flighty, especially with men, but Mark was Mr. Right. Guys like Mark don’t come along very often, Teri.
Yeah. Maybe. I don’t know.
You don’t know what?
Theresa shifted a hip and leaned against the counter between them, her sparkling blue gaze drifted down to her toes. She always broke eye contact when she felt ashamed. Heather knew her sister all too well.
I’m not looking to settle down.
Did…did Mark propose?
Heather was incredulous. Her sister had only been together with Mark for six months. Six months, two weeks, and three days to be exact.
No.
Heather hoped the relief didn’t show on her face. Summoning a quick grin, she shook her head. You have intimacy issues.
I do not.
Theresa looked up and met Heather’s inquisitive gaze. There was no telltale curving of Theresa’s upper lip, which would’ve meant she was lying, so Heather took her word. That left the only other possibility and that was her sister didn’t realize she had trouble accepting genuine affection.
Then what’s really going on?
I don’t know.
Teri, it’s me. I’m not going to tell anyone.
Mom?
Not even Mom.
Theresa took a sip of her coffee and looked to Heather. Heather waited as patiently as possible, but sometimes getting Theresa to talk was like pulling teeth.
Well?
Mark is great. Don’t get me wrong, I like him. A lot. But he’s…
Theresa stopped and looked down once more. He’s what?
It’s all the same thing. There’s no excitement.
He’s not a good lover?
Heather couldn’t believe that. Mark seemed very passionate about so many things. To discover he was lousy in bed would destroy her own fantasies.
No. No, the sex is great.
Then what?
He works too much.
Heather blinked. Had she heard her sister right? And… that’s a bad thing?
No. I mean…he never wants to go out. He’s either at work, or tired from work. All we do is screw and watch TV.
Heather smirked. That sounded more like heaven to her, but judging by the look of disenchantment on
