Hey Nurse Brown this is Dr. Rivers; can you pull up Ms. Rivers files for me? I need to locate her mother. The blurred vision of the tall handsome doctor was frightened.

Okay, well as soon as you get it, give me a call. Zakiya couldn’t figure out her surroundings. She struggled to open her eyes wider for a clearer vision.

Where am I? Help, her voice was as weak as her body. She attempted to seat up but failed miserably. So she snatched away the covers to check out her body.

No, no stay put, you’re on med’s. I’m trying to locate your family now. Gently Doctor Wolf slid Zakiya back into the bed, tucking her in like a toddler.

    Where am I?

You’re safe, just keep still for me. As soothing as Dr. Rivers voice was, Zakiya didn’t feel safe. She was in unfamiliar territory with a complete stranger.

I’ll be the judge of that, she whispers out as loud as she could.

Where am I, I’m not going to ask you again? She threatens as if she was in control.

I’m Dr. Wolf. I delivered your baby. So I’ve heard, Zakiya thought.

You were in a car wreck and I couldn’t find any I.D. on you and since you were drenched in booze, I didn’t want to call the ambulance.

So, where am I? She asked again.

You’re at my place, 1201 Brook Haven Rd. I know your husband so I figured I’ll save you from a DUI. Zakiya heart beats increased as Wolf got closer. She didn’t know what to suspect. Her sweaty palms gripped the sheets on the queen size bed tightly.

Let me check your blood pressure again. It was pretty high earlier. Earlier? What time is it? Zakiya thought looking at the night stand clock. 9:01 p.m.

How long have I’ve been out? Zakiya build up the strength to ask.

You hit your head pretty bad and your blood pressure was pretty high. So, I patched you up, gave you some meds and you were out for the count.

Why didn’t you wake me? Why did you let me sleep? Zakiya snapped with the little strength she had.

For one, you were in a pretty bad shape. You were crying and shouting out I’m sorry and all kinds of things. So, I figured a little sleep would help you sober up. It was all coming back to Zakiya, quick flashes of a little girl on a bike popped up.

Oh my goodness did I hit someone? Zakiya hands covered her face as if she was playing a game of Pick-a-Boo.

If you did, you had to knock’em over in the woods because I didn’t see anybody. Wolf had no idea how close his joke was to reality until he looked at Zakiya’s face.

Oh my God woman, did you hit somebody? Tears rained from Zakiya beautiful hazel eyes.

I’m not sure. She whimpered shaking her head in distress.

Okay, okay, just calm down. Wolf smelled heavenly. As he leaned in to comfort Zakiya she inhaled his beautiful mixture of Giorgio Armani cologne and Dove for men soap. Her body unintentionally relaxed as she exhaled in his arms.

I’ll check everything out, don’t worry about it. I don’t need you getting all worked up. I’m trying to get your blood pressure stabled Zakiya rested on Wolf broad shoulders staring out the window at the heavy rain drops.

As soon as the storm calms down, a cab will take you home. Okay? Wolf could feel Zakiya head nod yes. He gripped her tighter and rocked her back and forth.

How did you know I was in a wreck? Zakiya asked after five minutes of silence.

I was behind you, I should have tried to get your attention when I saw you swerving in and out the lanes but I thought maybe you’ll pull it together. How much did you have to drink anyway and why were you drinking and driving? Finally, Zakiya unlocks from Wolf’s bear hug. Why untangling the two lock eyes and instantly Zakiya stomach locks in knots.

Wow, you have beautiful eyes. Wolf dark grey eyes and dark Hersey complexion was an unusual combination for a black man.

Thank you but let’s stick to the topic shall we? Applaud by Wolf cockiness Zakiya set back on the bed and answered.

Well, I don’t usually drink but I’ve recently discovered some information that upset me and..

And, Wolf adds to Zakiya hesitation.

And, I may have gobbled down a whole bottle of Loire Chinon Villegron while driving.

That’s a good collection of wine, who has that kind of wine just lying around in their car? Zakiya chuckled.

A girl who’s doesn’t appreciate the finer things anymore. Listen, I’m grateful for your help. You didn’t have to look after me, you could have kept going but you didn’t so thank you. Zakiya attempted to get up and this time she was successful. She scuffled through her purse searching for her phone.

If you’re looking for your phone it’s dead. I already tried turning it on. Zakiya perfectly arched eye brows wrinkled.

That’s weird, my phone is never dead. She responded while trying to turn on her phone.

I called you a cab. They assured me as soon as the storm calmed down that one would be out this way.

Oh okay, thank you. Slowly Zakiya walked back to the bed with her purse pressed tightly to her abdominal.

You’re good. Although, there is one thing I’ll like for you to do for me in return. Zakiya nerves rattled.

    Of course, you do.

Can you not tell your husband about this night? Quickly Zakiya retorted.

You mean can I not tell your brother that you rescued his wife from a fatal car accident? Wolf flashed Zakiya with his pearly white teeth.

    She gets it. He joked.

    What’s really going on?

It’s not my place to say, I will say that we’re just getting back into a place where we can exist in the same room and I don’t want to compromise our reunion with this little information. Confused, Zakiya just shook her head.

I don’t get it. Wouldn’t he appreciate you for saving his woman?

Come on, I’m sure you know your husband better than anyone. I’m not sure what I know anymore, she thought.

He’s a territorial man and the thought of a man around his woman without his permission wouldn’t seat right. So, do I have your word? Wolf twelve pack distracted Zakiya train of thought. He switched from a white V-neck into a black one.

Hello? Wolf waved his hand for attention.

    Yeah, yeah whatever, Zakiya answered.

I have a quick question, where the hell is my clothes? Zakiya looked down at the overly large t-shirt her body was covered in.

There in the dryer. I washed them, you were covered in blood. The thought of a stranger undressing her while she was out didn’t seat right with her gut.

    You shouldn’t have. Zakiya snapped.

Excuse me for trying to help.

Yeah, excuse you. You don’t undress another man’s wife without their permission. Especially while their knocked out cold. Zakiya snatched up her pants from the floor and slid them on under the t-shirt.

Can you go get my shirt please? Wolf snatched the neatly folded shirt from the day couch and handed it to Zakiya.

I’m sorry, you’re right. I should have left you in your bloody clothes, please forgive me. Wolf attitude was as loud as Zakiya and like that the mood in the room had changed.

Do you have an umbrella I can use? Zakiya doubled back in her steps before leaving the bedroom.

    Where are you going?

I know how to catch the bus. Zakiya snapped leading Wolf out the bedroom.

It’s a spare one at the door. Aggressively, Wolf pulled Zakiya into his space by her arm.

Wait, don’t leave like this. I’m sorry if you feel like I violated your space, I was only trying to help. Zakiya could hear the sincere in Wolf voice this time, plus his dark grey eyes were burning a whole into her soul. Her body trembled as he held her tightly by her thin waist.

I’m not mad, really. I just think it’s time I leave. Standing two inches from Wolf full dark lips Zakiya nervously go in for the kill. The mint from his tongue was delicious. She suckled on his full lips and then he suckled on her full lips. For a minute long, their tongue wrestled.

I’m sorry, was the last two words Wolf heard from Zakiya before she stormed out into the storm.

Distance was all that mattered. Phyllis wasn’t stopping for anything and she sure as hell wasn’t taking her foot off the gas for a little rain. Leon eyes stayed glued to the GPS display tracking their position while the world passed in a blur of red and white lights. The sound of the tires over the smooth tarmac was lost under the pounding bass of the Campbell’s preferred ride-a-long music. Harley reached up to the front to turn Adele Rolling in the deep up just a little more.

Harley this is not the time to jam to your favorite song. Try calling Amanda back and see where about she’s at. There was always one friend out the bunch who didn’t play by the rules; well Amanda was the bad ass out of Harley’s crew. She had recently called historical screaming about being chased by a group of boys. Phyllis and Leon over heard her on the phone and freaked out.

I told you how dramatic Amanda can be. It’s probably nothing even wrong with her. Harley wasn’t at all worried. She had been friends with Amanda long enough to know, it’s never that serious.

Can you please just call her Harley; this could be the one time she’s actually in trouble. I heard fear in her voice; she can’t be that good of an actor. Phyllis added.

"I’m calling, I’m calling. I told you she’s not picking up. Let’s just go home.

    Gracious, she’s your friend Harley.

    Your best friend, Leon added.

    Okay. Okay….

"Phyllis, watch out for this Jeep! Leon warning came a minute too late. The red Cherokee Jeep swerved out of control and Phyllis failed miserably at avoiding hitting the jeep. She hits the jeep and the Honda close behind smashes into them. There was an explosion, a ball of flame and a fist of gray smoke… A moment later there was another explosion. The fourth car had been traveling to fast to stop. It plowed into the wrecks, flipped over and continued, screeching along the runway on its back before it too burst into flames.
