    Shadow Stalker - Renee Scattergood

    Foreword

Finally, after a few months break, I’m getting back into the Shadow Stalker serial. I can’t believe it’s almost over. I’m glad I’ll be doing more work in this world with the next serial though. I’d miss it too much. Of course, all the characters will be different, but we’ll just get to meet some new exciting characters, including Gauwai and Gauwin, the twin boys in the legend about the twin moons. You’ll get to find out what really happened between them and how the legend came about.

Anyway, I really hope you enjoy Episode 19. Part 4 is going to be packed full of action now that we’re coming down to the wire, so happy reading!

    Prologue

Kado watched the palace for some time before he decided it was safe to leave the shadow world. He was eager to avoid too many confrontations, and preferred not to take any lives if possible. Things with Auren and Makari were shaky enough without him making it worse. Well, worse than it would be once he did what he came to do, but there was no way he'd leave that place tonight without Auren.

The closest he could get to the palace without setting off any alarms, or at least the ones he knew about, was across the street from the main courtyard. It was well lit, even at night, so he'd have a hard time sticking to the shadows as he made his way to the entrance. Once inside, he'd have to depend on his wit, because his powers would be useless for the most part. While some of the palace wasn't shielded in beryllonium, they did use technology that could detect the changes in energy when a shadow stalker used their powers.

Kado paused in the shadow of another building as two Dansig Troopers came into view. They were looking around as though they'd seen something. Kado was perfectly still, but it wasn't enough. There was just too much light and the troopers spotted him. He moved so swiftly they could barely track him. He circled behind them. The first fell as Kado hit him in such a way that he would be unconscious for several hours. Long enough to be safely away
