Camilla Läckberg is a Swedish writer who was born in Fjällbacka, a coastal town in Sweden where most of her works are set, in 1974. She has written around 10 crime novels which have all been very successful, both in Sweden and abroad. In 2006 she received the Swedish People’s Literature Award, and in 2008 she won France’s Grand Prix de Littérature Policière (a prestigious award for crime and detective fiction) for her novel The Ice Princess (2008). Her novels as a whole paint a comprehensive picture of life in Fjällbacka and follow the recurring characters of Erica Falck and her husband, police detective Patrik Hedström. Her novels particularly stand out for the importance that they give to human relationships, and to the issue of family
