Tiffany Lambert loves her husband, but she doesn't understand his need to gamble. When the married couple can't pay their rent, they are invited over to their landlord's opulent house to work something out.

Their landlord is a man named Frank Sinclair. Frank is an older black man who immediately takes a keen interest in Tiffany.

While Tiffany's husband is kept busy with yard work, Frank begins to work his schemes on the innocent white wife. He goes so far as to buy Tiffany a beautiful dress once belonging to the wife of Robert E. Lee. But when Tiffany agrees to try the dress on sparks begin to fly. And Tiffany can't ignore the undeniable heat between her and the sinfully hot landlord.

Another hot morning in Washington DC. The temperature would only rise and everyone was told to drink lots of fluids and stay inside as much as possible. Garrett Lambert was driving the car when he nervously looked over at his wife. It's fine, dear, you don't need to worry. Everything is going to work out. I'll take care of it.

Tiffany Lambert wasn't so sure about that. She felt anxious and started using the palms of her hands to straighten out the front of her short white skirt. Only now, did Tiffany question whether or not she should have worn something more conservative. She didn't want to give any one the wrong idea.

It was an early Saturday afternoon and thankfully there was hardly any traffic on the highway. Their landlord, Frank Sinclair, lived across town in an upscale gated community. Frank was an American success story. A black man, he'd played in the NFL for several years before parlaying his earnings into a half a dozen successful businesses, including several downtown apartments.

Frank was their landlord.

At the moment Tiffany couldn't sit still. After she applied another layer of lip gloss, she flipped up the mirror, and said, He's going to be pissed, Garrett.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Best case scenario —

Garrett interrupted his wife. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, okay?

She shook her head. He could kick us out, honey. Do you realize that? I mean, he could literally evict us today if he wanted!

He won't do that.

How do you know?

I know, Tiff.

Well, she said, pausing to frame her thoughts which seemed more jumbled than normal because of all the stress. Did you read the email? Did you actually read it? He was pissed!

He'll get over it, Garrett said, smiling while he signaled to get off the highway.

Tiffany let out a long, frustrated sigh. Sometimes her husband could be such an irresponsible jerk!

Then their beat-up Honda Accord slowed as it came to the first intersection.

Tiffany looked at the clock again. She didn't want to be late and the fact that they managed to get here on time was a miracle. The fact that the Honda Accord was still running was perhaps even a bigger miracle.

Baby, trust me, Garrett said in his most soothing voice. I got an ace in the hole!

Tiffany didn't exactly appreciate her husband's reference to gambling.
