About this ebook

It's September 11, 2016, only 2 months away from the most controversial election in the history of the United States. Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton are both running for office, but they both could not be any more hated by the American public.

Meanwhile, an organization called the Terrorist killers are investigating a substance known as the stem-cell substance. It supposedly extends the lifespan of a human being and be the next great breakthrough in genetic engineering. However, as with any high-profile drug, it's being distributed illegally. What starts off as an ordinary drug bust begins to escalate rather quickly into a conspiracy plot that will have serious implications on the general election of 2016.

As the story deepens it turns out that an arch-nemesis of the Terrorist Killers is behind all this, known as Janus. He's using the funding of Trump and Clinton to fund the drug's distribution and his criminal activities. In exchange, he promises to rig the election, by hacking into the voting machines and changing the votes to the president that pays him the most. What no one knows is who this Janus character really is, a two-faced conniving snake who's been wanted by the FBI for the longest. Does Janus intend to keep his promise or is he a traitor to the American people along with the stem-cell substance.

It will be up to Mariano Hernandez the star agent to find out the true identity of Janus, something no one knows not even the FBI. Do the stem-cell's really help extend the lifespan of a human or is it hiding a more sinister effect.

    Janus - Angel Ramon

    Prologue

The 2016 Presidential Election has proven to be the most controversial election in the history of U.S. politics. This election alone has caused the United States to become even more divided than ever before. Never before has the U.S. hated each other more than now ever since Trump won. It’s clear that Americans are becoming greedier, hateful, racists and selfish and evil doers might just use that to their advantage to forge their own empire full of even more hatred. Even to the point of the devil coming down himself and spreading hate all around the world.

What would happen if no one won the election? What if someone else came in and changed the election forever? I know some of you might be saying, well it maybe better than having Trump as president. True, but then again it could be worse... much worse. What if history had played out differently? What if a man named Janus had used the two candidates for his own dealings and has full control of the outcome of the election. He could change the United States without anyone being the wiser and he would do all this by using the American citizens themselves.

By using the ignorance from the population, Janus could control others to do his bidding and convince anyone with one simple lie. He and his crew have the ability to control and spread deceitful ideologies. People are already divided between ideologies, which are socialist and conservative. However, it’s the hidden danger or the hidden ideology, one of pure hate of both. While Janus may have an idea of a utopia without separate ideology, but it is one that favors him and only him. It will also promote even more hatred and possibly spell the end of the free world. Janus is only the number one most wanted criminal and it will be up to an unpopular group known as the Terrorist Killers to stop him.

The question is? How can they stop a criminal who they don’t even know? Get ready to experience the literal meaning of The Devil’s Election

Ironically this book starts at the lowest point in modern United States history. Before hopping on this thrilling adventure, we’ll like to leave you with this quote.

The only thing that can defeat power is more power. That is the one constant in this universe. However, there is no point in power if it consumes itself. I will enlist the help of an old friend against our common foe; I will use one pawn to eliminate the other, and emerge with the spoils for myself... – Janus

    Area 1: Pre-Game

    Chapter 1

    The Beginning

It’s September 11, 2016 and it’s a beautiful day in Kings Point, New York. Kings Point is a small village on the North Shore of Long Island in the state of New York. An alarm goes off indicating that it’s time to get up for Mariano.

He’s an agent for an anti-crime/terrorist organization known as the Terrorist Killers. In fact he’s the star agent for the organization.  He usually receives the tougher assignments, but the reward is well worth it. He’s is half Puerto Rican and Dominican, around his mid 20’s, around 6’2" and weighs about 200 pounds.

Another day, another dollar. Look like things are going to be nice and smooth, no urgent calls so far. Then he sees his next door neighbor whose name is Angel, who has a huge villa complex next to his modest house. Good morning my good man Angel! He says cordially.

Hello Mariano, isn’t it a beautiful day? Angel responds with a suspicious looking smirk, Mariano doesn’t react much to the smirk figuring that is his nature.

Mariano’s house is modest with a security system, backyard pool, nice porch and a modest security system. However, Angel’s house is much grander. In fact he has security guards surrounding his house, cameras around the place, two swimming pools and a huge library inside. He’s also married to a beautiful woman named Maria, who looks innocent enough. However, she can be just a devious, although Mariano has never seen her act deceitful.

He has no issues with either of them. They were in High School together for a year before Angel transferred out. As for Maria, he’s only met her since Angel married her and the two began to live together. He and Angel have been neighbors for a year and a half. He is bothered by one thing though and that is Angel hasn’t invited him to his house even once. While it doesn’t bother him too much, he just feels that Angel is hiding something from him.

Hmm... Then again Angel is the owner of his own company known as Angel Industries, which is the leading company for genetic engineering. So I can understand him being secretive about letting people into his house, he’s worth a lot of money. Wait... He has visitors almost every weekend, but those are probably his associates. Ah... I’m just over thinking it too much. Mariano catches himself overthinking.

Mariano has to remember that Angel thinks that he is a working with a financial company and he cannot reveal his true occupation to anyone. Like James Bond can’t reveal that he is a spy from Great Britain. He wonders does Angel know or suspect he is part of a secret intelligence group.

Nah? He’s not that smart. All of a sudden his cell phone rings.

Hey Mariano its Brandon, we got a case for you. We need you to come down here ASAP.

    You got it chief!

Mariano heads down to the Terrorist Killers headquarters, which is on the top floor of a building on 32nd Street and 3rd Avenue in Manhattan. It’s disguised as a small time/local media group similar to those you would find in SoHo, but once you get inside the door that reads Authorized Staff Only it’s a different story. He can only imagine what the case could be, knowing he’s the star agent. Could the case have something to do with Angel, perhaps he’s hiding more than the government wants to see. However, instead though he decides to keep an open mind about the case.

Mariano walks into the building, towards the elevator and hits the 17th floor. He takes the elevator all the way to the top most floor, he always feels weird when he’s the only one who presses the 17th floor. He wonders if people thinking that floor must contain a secret or is a front for a crime syndicate? Nevertheless he keeps his composure and explains he is working with a small time/startup media company and that’s why people haven’t heard of it. To his delight everybody buys his alibi and he continues on his daily routine.

Upon entering he’s greeted by the receptionist who always gives him a warm reception, he always turns pink and has a warm sensation after the female receptionist greets him. He thinks of taking her out for lunch or coffee someday, but he knows there are more pressing measures to be taken care of. There are abstract paintings of shapes and paper mache figures of famous authors. With this setting here, one would think that this is indeed a place to promote artists. However, once he walks through the Secret Door for authorized employees the setting changes completely.

He walks into a dark hallway and he walks through a scanner just as a precaution. The setting is one with many forensic labs, research rooms and interrogation rooms. This is the actual headquarters of the Terrorist Killers.

The Terrorist Killers are a group of spies who sort of work for the United States. They attempt to find conspiracies or New World Order plots in order to foil them, however they have a rather sour relationship with the FBI. They have been labeled as a group of wannabes or in the eyes of the FBI they’re labeled as vigilantes. Nevertheless they are given assistance by the city as they have cracked some serious cases, including an attack to take out the Empire State building. As a result, they have to keep their name in the down low or as inconspicuous as possible.

Mariano heads for the conference room where he meets the crew. The crew includes Brandon, the founder of the organization. There’s Jessica who is Brandon’s girlfriend and acts as his assistant. You have Randy who is the forensic scientist who looks for the nooks and crannies on dead bodies. Another member is Jenny who is a researcher and looks deeper into a certain organization, she usually is the one who spots any flaws in any suspect’s story.

Then you have Phil or everyone calls him Big Phil and he is the interrogator, he’s not afraid to pull any punches when he interviews any suspects. He is known to hurt a few suspects along the way, so he’s been asked to cool down by Brandon plenty of times. Finally there is Quentin, who is a middle of the line agent, who is planning to be the next star agent of the organization. Mariano greets Brandon.

Good morning chief, how are you doing today? What do you have cooking this time around?

Glad you can join us Star Agent Mariano! Brandon says with great encouragement. Now to get to the nitty-gritty we suspect a pharmaceutical company called Phoenix is involved with making a stem-cell capable of extending people’s life spans.

No offense chief, but I don’t see anything wrong with that. I suppose someone has finally found the fountain of youth, right? Mariano questions Brandon.

That’s what the company wants the public to believe, however this stem-cell has been link or we suspect has been linked to an increase in violence. Many people who have taken the injection while turned stronger, have also turned more violent. Brandon replies

.Hmm... now that makes it much more interesting, it’s like steroids. Mariano replies.

Only ten times the effect. It sounds crazy, but I feel like someone might be trying to make a master race using these super humans and Mark Truman the owner of Phoenix has a huge hand in all this. Randy says suspiciously.

To spice things up even more this stem-cell, which is only available to people with very special needs all of a sudden has spiked up in price in the black market. In fact you’re going to investigate a suspicious shipment arriving in the East River docks. Jenny who is usually silent gives Mariano quite a revelation of the events.

Whoa, the East River docks that area has been closed off for years! I wouldn’t go near that area at night. It’s nothing but gangs out there...  Mariano is cut off by Brandon before he could continue to speak.

Exactly, if this stem-cell substance is being distributed illegally and the gang leaders out there are paying top dollar, we can bust Mark for corruption and conspiracy. A person of interest we’re going to want to get our hands on is Craig or nicknamed Shawty Black who is a huge drug king pin in the NYC area. In fact he’s the largest of all of them. We’ve notice a large amount of reports of people becoming violent and this stem-cell has been proven to be the cause. Obviously Mark Truman has denied any wrong doing and has even spoken to us that some of his samples were stolen.

Mark has a rather strong case because we have surveillance video indicating four men had stolen samples from the lab. Only thing that gets me is that building is supposedly secured rather well. Which leads to two possibilities, either these guys are experts or worse this is an inside job. Not to mention Mark got a rather huge payday along with Angel for the losses. Don’t forget your neighbor Angel is allied with him. However, Angel gave us access to his building and we found nothing, which means he has been cleared or he has a hand and is willing to let Mark take the blame. Jenny elaborates the situation even further.

Well enough chit-chat, your mission will be to check what the hell is going on in the East River docks. If you see the stem-cell take a picture and grab a sample so Randy can further investigate. Your phone should be sufficient enough to take a picture and send to us. I’m also arming you with a silencer for your pistol, no need to let all of New York know that we’re in the area and we risk scaring off Shawty Black. We need you to use as much stealth as possible because we don’t have a warrant to be there. Apparently our group is too ghetto to get a proper warrant. Brandon shakes his head after explaining the mission to Mariano. Then he speaks once again.

Craig or Shawty Black is an intimidating fellow. He may be only 5’6", but weighs over 250 pounds and is very strong. He is an African-American fellow whose family has roots in South Carolina. Craig was born in South-Carolina, but raised in New York where he has always run the streets and always found himself on the wrong side of the law. He was raised without a father figure, which adds fuel to a 40 year old fire that has been burning his entire life.

Before I let you go, I don’t normally do this. I’m giving you the license to kill, consider the gang members to be expendable. However, try to leave one alive as that person could lead us to Craig. Good luck Star Agent Mariano.

Thanks, I’ll try to not play too rough. Where’s my ride?

Mariano is led to his ride which is a BMW i8 and by the look of his face he is rather impressed by the car he is driving. He drives out towards the East River docks towards Ave A by the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

    Chapter 2

    Busting In

Mariano heads down 3rd Avenue until he reaches Delancey Street and heads east. Instead of taking the Williamsburg bridge and enjoying the little bit of the beautiful crisp September sunset he heads right onto Norfolk Street. He continues until he reaches the East River Docks, not too far from Chinatown. He parks not too far from the docks, but far enough that no one will be the wiser. The area is rather empty as expected as the beautiful sunset quickly turns into an ominous color, he knows he’s walking into enemy territory. He takes a stroll through Chinatown to gather his thoughts and check to see if he spots any weak spots no one is guarding.

It’s hard to believe all these people are oblivious to the idea there is a serious drug syndicate in their own backyard. However, it’s understandable because the activity only takes place at night and it’s not like the cops really care about patrolling the area even during the day. He says in his head.

He finishes strolling down Chinatown, it’s close to 7 at night and the sun is nearly set completely. The moon can be seen shining brightly down at the docks. That is until dark clouds approach to cover the moon and by the look of the clouds it’s about to pour. A stack of boxes can be seen and he heads behind the boxes to hide until he spots patrolmen looking for any unwanted company. All of a sudden one of the boxes fall to the ground making a loud noise, alerting the others. The gang members probably allied with Craig head towards the boxes. He has to think quickly to avoid being spotted.

He uses his special watch to create a hologram of himself. The two gangsters spot the hologram and pull out their pistols while threatening the hologram to leave or else.

Yo punk! You better gets the hell the out! Or we’ll bust a cap right here right now. The group gets even closer surrounding the hologram.

Yo pussy ass mofo! Get out of here! Another gang member screams.

I guess we got ourselves a stubborn one! Well we warned you, time to put you six feet under!

The group shoots the hologram and are in shock when they see what they though was an intruder doesn’t move.

What the hell? Is this a trick or something, that bastard couldn’t possibly survive! One of the gangsters says in shock.

Well that’s because it’s a hologram, you guys have more hot air than brains! Mariano says as he pops out of the box and shoots the four gangsters in record time before any of them have time to react.

Damn I’m good! As for you guys the name’s Hernandez... Mariano Hernandez! He blows on his silenced pistol.

He walks slowly to check out the surroundings and sees the coast is clear. The area is rather dark as one would expect in an area where illegal activity is taking place. All of a sudden he sees a set of laser beams coming from the top of the abandoned buildings.

Shit there’s snipers here, crap this isn’t no ordinary gang. He says to himself in concern. Hey Brandon looks like we may have to make this mission a covert one.

Fine... It doesn’t matter, as long as we find that shipment. Brandon replies indifferently.

He runs as fast as he can in order to avoid being targeted by the snipers. He runs behind a group of boxes as he sees three sniper lasers side by side and a group of guys approach his direction. His heart rate begins to increase wondering what his next move will be. He aims his silencer through the small hole between boxes for the sniper on the north building. He waits for the group to pass him by and shoots the sniper causing him to fall from the building. He jumps over the boxes, running towards the north building and enters the building. He sees several guards patrolling the area and a couple of gangsters shouting out slang terms at each other.

Hey yo! I bet I’ll shoot the next fool that walks in here! One of the gangsters says.

Nah my brother you fuckin suck, I’ll show you some skills!

The two go down in less than 10 seconds after Mariano shoots them down quicker than quicksilver.

Actually you both suck and I’ll be doing the shooting here. Mariano brags with a sinister voice.

He begins to search for any shipments or any suspicious material such as the stem-cell substance. However, he comes up empty in the building. A frustrated Mariano comes out of the building finding nothing and says, Hey Brandon, negative in the north building. I gotta go to towards the docks.

Well whatever you do, watch your back. You’re going deeper into their territory and they will be out in force. Stealth might not be an option. You might have serious resistance up ahead.

Mariano approaches the docks and sees a huge group of gangsters with Uzi’s and AK47’s. He sees a crane and sees a green node. Then he takes his decoder to activate the crane. The crane drops a barrel spilling battery acid on the gangsters. He actually enjoys the screaming pain that the gangsters are suffering as they have their skins peeling off.

All of a sudden a young woman with a hoody and ripped jeans approaches him from behind with a Sterling .380 pointed behind him.

Don’t move! Who are you? The woman says aggressively.

The name’s Hernandez... Mariano Hernandez. What’s a doll like you doing in these parts at this time? Mariano asks calmly.

What are you doing here? I’m the one with the gun!

Listen if you help me take down big Craig, I won’t bust you. Does that sound like a deal we can work out?

You buffing aren’t you? You hate Craig as well, I want to destroy him. He’s been killing off my profits for almost forever.

So you’ll help me out, I know I’ll have to question you. However, if your promise to be good, stay out of trouble and stop drug dealing I can cut you a deal. Sounds good?

The woman drops her gun and says while signing, Deal.

What’s your name by the way? Mariano asks.

    Tiffany.

Ok Tiffany where can I find Craig. Also do you know of the stem-cell substance?

Tiffany is a Jamaican woman in her middle 20’s similar to Mariano. She is a well-known drug dealer and she has a bone to pick with Craig who’s stealing her business. Could this be an opening to an unprecedented friendship?

You mean Shawty Black then yes. He is just up ahead to the main dock building and yes the stem-cells are being shipped to him by Mark. He pays Mark a fee for shipping and he sells it to the dumbass public to make his profits. It’s quite disgusting!

Hate to say it sweetcakes, but you’re no better. You are spreading poison to the community as well. I know it’s not the stem-cell substance. However, crack and cocaine are no better. Nevertheless I’m happy to see that we’re on the same side, let’s get moving!

Tiffany and Mariano head deeper into the Craig’s playground.

Mariano and Tiffany heads towards the deeper part of the East River Docks. They see a large amount of boats parked and see a large amount of gang members hanging around.

You think we get through? Tiffany asks.

Well if you thinking the odds of getting through with stealth, I say about a 20% chance. Mariano sarcastically answers.

I was expecting a more intelligent answer!

I gave you a real answer. I still say we can do it. However, we gotta be careful.

Mariano sees a path to success, but it involves a canister of explosive material next to the group of gangsters. Neither of them is able to get a clear shot of the barrel. So they have to lean closer to the canister in order to get a shot and as they approach the area Tiffany slips on some oil on the floor. She then bumps into a stack of crates and the noise of the crates alerts the gangsters. The gangsters spot the two and begin to open fire with their Uzi’s and SPMKG5 machine guns.

Nice one Tiffany, so much for stealth I guess!

Sorry about that, looks like we gotta run. Now!

The two of them run away from the area and they are met up with more baddies. The two disarm the gangsters and take their sub-machine guns. After that, they shoot the other gangsters and then shoot the canister. As a result the gangsters blow up in the sky to Mariano’s delight. After clearing out the area the two of them head for the boats to see if they can find any evidence of the stem-cell substance. The two check the boats separately, as it proves much faster. Before they could finish searching the boats they are attacked by more gang members. The two empty their bullets towards the gang members, shooting them all down. They find nothing inside of the boats that is incriminating.

Shit just got lit! Tiffany screams.

I suppose so or they wouldn’t be aiming for us, now would they? Mariano responds.

They run towards the south side of the docks while killing gangsters along the way. Tiffany spots Craig and tries to take a shot at him, but she misses him.

Son of a bitch, I almost got him!

Tiffany, I think we better keep him alive!

Now why would I do something like that? Are you out of your mind? She asks with frustration.

He can lead us to Mark or whoever is behind this or do you want to go to jail? Either you help me crack the case or your ass is going to jail! Mariano answers.

Tiffany blows a sigh and says, Fine I rather be free than behind bars. Out of nowhere a group of Craig’s elite henchmen come to attack the two with assault rifles. The two attack the henchmen as they defend themselves from the troops. They hide behind boxes, boats and other vehicles to dodge the gunfire by the henchmen, until they are able to defeat all of them. They continue to give chase to Craig who runs inside the main building.

Craig runs for his life inside the building and receives a phone call. At first he’s unable to pick it up as he is on the run. He finds a janitor’s room and locks himself inside so he could answer his back after missing the call. He calls back the person that was calling him.

Yeah...Yeah...Yeah what’s good king? Craig says trying to stay cool.

Craig is everything up to par, remember I’m due to visit next week and if I find anything out of the ordinary it’s your ass! The mysterious voice answers.

Nah everything’s fine here boy, you go relax ok.’ Craig replies trying to get his boss off the phone, knowing things are everything but ok.

What’s that noise? I hear gunshots!

That’s nothing man, yeah...yeah just dealing with some competition rather easily. My men are killing them off easily.

Well done and you better be telling the truth, remember who’s the one who pays you the bacon. Glad to see my top dealer is doing his job...

Listen king I gotta go and make sure everything’s ok. Talk to you later. Craig tries to cut the conversation off quickly.

Ok Craig just remember be careful what you say and protect my babies. I wouldn’t want them to fall into the wrong hands. The conversation ends.

Craig hangs up the phone and heads for the managers room to hide out. At the same time Mariano and Tiffany continue to give chase to him. They approach the building where Craig is located. Before they can enter several henchmen throw sticks of dynamite towards the two. The two of them are forced to dodge the sticks of dynamite being thrown at them. More henchmen come out of the building probably summoned by Craig running inside like a paranoid freak.

You’re a dead man spy! One of the henchmen screams.

You got no business here you fool! Especially you Tiffany, prepare to die bitch! Another henchman says.

Not a chance, you bastard! No one gets away with taking my business! Tiffany replies with a nasty attitude.

Mariano and Tiffany shoot all of the henchmen in front of them. Mariano sees another green node by another crane. He uses his decoder to decrypt the programming and uses the crane to smash the building forcing the dynamite throwing men to either fall down or to take the impact. Many of the men decide to just let the debris fall on them crushing them. After taking the henchmen out, the two of them rush inside the building.

Upon entering the building, Craig gets out of the janitor’s room and rushes up the stairs and as soon as he spots the two. He throws boxes, used tires and canisters in an attempt to shake off Mariano and Tiffany.

I’m going to re-tire you! Craig says in an arrogant tone.

The two try to dodge the objects being thrown at them. While they are able to avoid the boxes and canisters the tires take out them out or at least hinders them.

That son of a bitch isn’t going to get away from me! Tiffany screams.

We have to relax; he wants us to chase him. Knowing him he might have a trick up his sleeve. We’re onto him, but we still need to be cautious. Mariano calms down Tiffany.

The two head up the stairs slowly and look inside the janitor’s room only to come up empty. Then they finish going up the stairs, but keep their backs to the wall just in case. Mariano peeks out from the side and sees the coast is clear. He instructs Tiffany to follow him slowly and approach the hallway in a zig-zag pattern to avoid being ambushed. Not to their surprise a man with a baseball bat is waiting to ambush them, but Mariano kills him with his silencer with nobody being the wiser. No sign of Craig can be found, not even any footsteps. The two head for the big blast door, but the door is locked and a card reader asking for an access card.

Hmm... interesting for an abandoned facility the security still works. Mariano is intrigued by the operation of the equipment despite the area deemed abandoned.

I for one am not shocked all this is funded by Craig and his dirty dealings. However, this isn’t a product of Craig or at least this isn’t being executed entirely by him. Tiffany replies with a demeaning tone.

You seem to take hatred towards this man! All you say is how much he’s killing you. How do you know he’s in this on his own? Mariano asks in the same calm but sarcastic tone. Mariano’s phone rings and he picks up.

    Hey Brandon what’s up?

    How’s it going out there?

Well stealth is out of the question, but we got Craig on the run.

Good job as long as you’re alive that’s what counts. Don’t forget we need that sample or this will be for not.

I have to nay that, we can’t let Craig get away! He might be our only lead to this case. Mariano responds no to Brandon’s orders.

You got balls to override my orders do you? Huh?

It’s not about who’s right or who’s wrong. It’s about making sure the suspect doesn’t get away!

Ok fine Mariano, I’ll let you override my orders. However, as soon as you capture Craig though I want you to get a sample of that stem-cell, even if it means torturing him.

Seems a bit rough don’t you think, but that I can obey. Why do I feel like this case is a whole lot bigger than even you think?

You might just be right. Actually no, you’re probably right. Every case we deal with always seems to have a twist in it. After all we aren’t called the Terrorist Killers for nothing. Now go get Craig, remember you do have the license to kill if needed.

Mariano and Tiffany start to investigate the rooms and try to find an access card. Before they can investigate the room an unknown person comes behind them with a sword and readies to strike. However, he’s able to sense the unknown person and finds out it’s a ninja.

A ninja, hun? You bastard nice try, but I’m too good for those dirty tactics. Mariano says arrogantly.

The ninja tries to slash Tiffany, but Mariano is able to push her out of the way while the sword slashes through the table.
