Chapter 1

Doctor Hartley, do you want us to finish reading the remaining chapters?

I haven’t heard my students talking to me until one of them shakes my arm as I sit at my desk.

You okay? she asks, squatting down by my chair.

I hope I don’t look as flushed as I feel. I’ve been miles away dreaming and fantasizing about what I overheard in the coffee shop earlier this morning. That and teaching a class on human sexuality an hour later has sent my mind reeling in several directions.

I’m fine, I say. And yes, read chapters fourteen and fifteen before my next lecture.

The class empties out, and I stand. My panties are damp, which brings about the realization that my overactive imagination really has gotten the better of me. I turn around to face the white board and wipe away the diagram of the most sensitive parts of a woman’s vagina that I drew earlier in the lecture.

I’m a sex therapist by profession. Last year the university twisted my arm into teaching a graduate-level class on sex and sexuality. The person doing the twisting had at that time been my lover and head of the psychology department. I’d been in a weakened state when he’d asked me because just moments earlier his cock had been buried deep inside me, and he’d provided one hair-raising climax.
