Crochet for Beginners - Erica Snow

Introduction

Crochet is an amazing craft that anyone from a very young age all the way to retirement stage can pick up! It has numerous benefits, including but not limited to:

Relieves Depression: Depression relief is one of the most well-known benefits of crocheting. The repetition of crochet has been shown to release serotonin into the body, a natural anti-depressant.

Reduces Anxiety: Crochet helps with numerous different forms of anxiety. It keeps the hands busy while it keeps the mind focused so that you’re able to attend an event or a class even if you have social anxiety. It brings your internal mind into a calmer state for when you’re coping with the anxiety of repetitive thoughts. The count has even been shown to be an outlet for those who have OCD and eating disorders.

Builds Self-Esteem: A low self-esteem has many different negative impacts on your health. Crocheting has been shown to build your self-esteem through the act of building a new skill, helping you feel productive, helping you feel useful due to being able to give your projects to others, and making beauty through self-expression.

Postpone or Reduce Dementia: There have been many studies that have shown that crocheting can postpone many age-related memory loss illnesses. Those who are experiencing dementia are even soothed by the act of crocheting.
