Bibliography
Preface
Here’s what Science has proven through countless experiments:
God is a placebo.
God is a fundamental delusion.
God is a product of ignorance.
God is a product of fear.
God is a product of inability to explain.
God is a tactic of survival.
God is an experience just like love.
God is a fascination.
God is an illusory guide.
God is an evolutionary trick.
God is a product of weakness.
God is a mental state of the humans.
God is a neurological enigma.
God is often a symptom of an underlying disease.
Here’s what all the religious scriptures express based on only the experiences of several primordial, ignorant, deluded and childish individuals:
God gave us our religions.
God demands us to kill people.
God will curse us if we don’t convert.
God keeps record of our good and evil deeds.
God commanded me to change the world.
God told us to decapitate anyone who attempts apostasy.
God allows me to have more than one wives.
God commands us to stone inter-religious couples to death.
God can have as many as 16000 wives.
God teaches me to worship my husband.
God instructed me to prove my obedience to him by sacrificing my own son.
God will make my descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands.
God promised me that through my offspring all nations on earth will be blessed.
God commanded me to build an ark for my family and each pair of all animals, and let all other people on earth die when the planet is flooded.
God told me that I and my four brothers should marry the same woman together.
Ultimately we can say that:
God is sociologically and psychologically constructed.
God is nothing but a neurological phenomenon.
God is the creation of the human brain.
I’m neither an atheist nor a theist. It’s way too early to get on either side. The existence of a Supreme Being as a guiding force behind the universe, is irrelevant to this book. Here I am going to reveal the molecular interactions underneath the human experience and perception of God and Divinity.
Being a neuroscientist, I don’t get the luxury to get on any side. If God is a delusion, which many atheist authors suggest in their own way of unfounded rational extremism, then there has to be a neurological basis for that. Because all delusions are created in the brain. It is only after investigating those neural underpinnings, that we can confirm whether God is a delusion or something much more inexplicable and elementary. The content of this book is not meant to offend anyone. Rather this book is a journey through the evolution of man while he creates the concept of God based on his own needs of daily survival.
Every supernatural phenomenon that humanity has experienced so far since the primordial times, doesn’t have any unearthly divine intervention involved. The entire belief system on a Supreme Creator was created by primordial humans out of fear and ignorance, by means of illusions. Our primitive ancestors handed over their ideas of a supernatural sentient creator to us and as our brain size augmented over the period of evolution, we made the concept of God more sophisticated by means of our sophisticated hallucinations. And in the process we developed formal social structures of religion.
However, this book is not about finding the flaws in any religion or its scriptures, rather it is a voyage on which we shall discover that the entire industry of religion is born from fear, anxiety, ignorance, illusion, and neurological disorders. It is an evolutionary tactic for self-preservation, a coping mechanism.
Here, I don’t make any attempt to take away anyone’s religious beliefs whatsoever. This book is not a typical work of atheism. Rather it enables you to dive into the depth of the true biological foundation of the ever-astounding concept of God and Religions. Come with me to a fascinating land of questions, experiments and revelations, where we shall investigate, how and why the smartest species on earth constructed such a bizarre concept of a Supreme Omnipotent Entity.
Chapter 1: The Birth of God
I belong to no religion. My religion is love. Every heart is my temple.
- Rumi
Mankind’s first scientific achievement was to build tools and weapons out of rocks. Then they learnt to harness the power of fire. But somehow along the way a mysterious concept of supreme creator crept into the heart of primitive human. There were so many natural phenomena taking place all around the primitive man, which he couldn’t explain by any means. It was way beyond his comprehension. Hence came fear. Fear of
