Introduction to The Thessalonian Epistles

Theme of I Thessalonians

1. The Christian and the Lord’s return: Ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven (1:9, 10). This refers to the time when all believers will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. This event is sometimes called the Rapture.

2. The day of the Lord: The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God. … He shall come to be glorified in his saints … in that day (1:7-10).
