I love to write. I don't write to make money or become famous. I write because I take great pleasure in the creation of a world, bringing people to life, and finding my way to a happy ending! For me, it's all about the story, not about selling books. It's like magic, to have an entire world in my imagination, then putting it down on paper, to write my way to the conclusion of the story, to cheer when the good guy/s win the day!

This book (as all my books are) is dedicated to my husband and daughters. They support my desire to write my books, even when I get lost in my own little worlds, and don’t always seem to notice everything continuing around me. I love all of you more than simple words could ever make clear!

    Chapter One

You do know that Father is going to skin us alive? Braeden called loudly across the distance to his younger sister, Iylalle.

Only if Mother does not find out before him! Iylalle called back from where she leaned over the neck of the young dragon she was flying on. She laughed and threw her brother a mischievous look before she whispered a soft suggestion to Stormcloud. Iylalle heard the hint of a laugh in her mind as the dark gray dragon she rode suddenly veered sharply to the right and began a steep dive toward the forest far below.

Hey, wait for us! Braeden yelled, even though he knew they were already too far away. Get after them, Sunstreak.

Never trust those two.’ The thought came back in response, as the young dragon, similar in color to his twin except for a dark golden streak running down the center of his back, dove after his twin sister and Princess Iylalle.

Sunstreak had a slight advantage of speed on Stormcloud, but the girls had surprise on their side, and had found and taken advantage of a wide clearing to land in before their brothers caught up to them. Prince Braeden slid to the ground and stormed over to face Iylalle.

What do you think you’re doing, Iylalle? This is part of the dark forest! Uncle Jacob has made this forbidden territory. No Maradonian is allowed in this region. Braeden grabbed his sister’s arm, intent on making her listen for once.

Braeden, you are such a frightened Choodle bug. Iylalle referred to the funny little bugs that lived in the palace gardens. When they were younger, they would do things to scare them, just to see them scatter madly, searching for places to hide at the slightest threat. Do you want an adventure or not? Besides, Stormcloud and I saw something over there. Iylalle pointed vaguely toward a tall hill not far from where they stood.

What did you see? Braeden narrowed his eyes slightly as he turned to peer in the direction she indicated. Despite his anger at Iylalle for sidetracking them from their original destination, he found his curiosity rising.

I don’t know what it was. We only got a glimpse of it, but it looked too interesting to pass up. Come on, let’s check it out now that we’re here. Iylalle pulled her arm from
