Er ist Autor zahlreicher wissenschaftlicher Artikel und Bücher in den Bereichen Kommunikationstheorie, Systemtheorie, Theorien der neuen Medien, interkulturelle Kommunikation, Netzwerktheorie, Organisationstheorie und digitale Ethik und Philosophie. Im Jahr 2000 war er Mitbegründer des Instituts für Kommunikation und Kultur an der Universität Luzern, wo er sich in Religionswissenschaft und in Kommunikationswissenschaft habilitiert hat.
