    Michael Dobbs, an Englishman, graduated with a degree in law and diplomacy in 1975 from Tufts University in the United States. Having written his doctoral thesis on nuclear defence, he returned to London and entered into the world of politics by working for the Conservative Party. As a speech writer, team leader and advisor to many Prime Ministers (most notably Margaret Thatcher), he was a key player in political operations. In 2010 he was knighted (Baron Dobbs of Wylye) and welcomed into the House of Lords where he sits on the Conservative side.
