May the needs of the one, occasionally, outweigh the needs of the many...
Chapter One
Mathe Winters growled in frustration. That area is off limits for a reason, Barker,
he snarled, glaring at the six foot human wrangler. Cows can be dangerous if their newborn calves are upset. That’s why there’s scheduled tours with chaperones.
Frowning at Greg Barker, Mathe watched the man’s chagrined expression turn sly. He took a step closer and rested a hand on Mathe’s chest. As he rubbed up, then down, he spoke softly.
Come on, Mathe,
Greg murmured. Calm down. No one was seriously injured,
he continued, stepping closer as he slid his hand down and flicked his thumb over Mathe’s nipple. Just a few scrapes and bruises is all, which will remind the girl to follow the rules.
Mathe grabbed Greg’s wrist on the hand that touched him and pushed it away from his chest. If you had been at your post, watching over the birthing barn like you were supposed to,
he grumbled. This wouldn’t have happened.
Greg rested his other hand on Mathe’s hip, digging his thumb into the groove of his groin. Why don’t you join me at the calving barn, then,
he pressed, rubbing his thumb along the skin of Mathe’s groin, inching closer to his prick. We can... check out everything together.
His blue eyes narrowed, lust darkening them to a stormy shade. "And I do mean everything."
Biting back a growl, Mathe grabbed Greg’s second wrist. He pushed that one off of him, too. Even with the human’s hands no longer on him, his body still responded to Greg’s lustful look and aroused scent.
Blast the human.
Greg did know how to work Mathe up. The human was not only one of their wranglers, but a donor. He lived in the bunkhouse with a dozen other single humans—eight males and four females. Some of the humans knew that the working cattle ranch which also offered dude ranch style vacations was owned and operated by vampires.
Those humans were donors, and Greg was one of them.
Since a vampire could give great pleasure with his or her bite, the wranglers were only too happy to donate their blood in exchange.
Greg had joined their ranks three years before. He’d been with probably a half dozen or so of the vampires in the coven, both male and female. In the past two weeks, he’d turned his attention to Mathe.
As the foreman of the ranch, Mathe was considered part of the inner circle. He worked with Master Jaymes, Second Gypsum, and Enforcer Rhyme to keep a balance between the dude ranch operation of the ranch, which brought in outside visitors, keeping blood supplies fresh, and the prosperity of the cattle operation. It was his responsibility to keep everything coordinating safely.
Well, it was his duty to know about problems. The human before him was becoming a problem. The man attempted to use seduction and the lure of his blood to get out of some of the more boring chores... like stable cleaning and patrol.
Unfortunately, it often worked. The man sucked like a hoover and moaned like a two-dollar whore. He fondled balls with skill, and he clenched his ass-muscles just right to milk Mathe’s dick to perfection.
Remembering the last time he’d coupled with Greg, smelling his arousal, Mathe couldn’t help his body’s response. His blood flowed south, his prick thickening in his jeans. At the same time, his mouth watered.
Greg’s blood did taste good, after all.
Mathe spotted the gleam of excitement in Greg’s blue eyes... and something else.
Triumph.
Sucking in a harsh breath, Mathe took a step away from the human. Unwilling to back away, as if in retreat, he stepped left instead, circling the man. He inhaled a fairly clear lungful of air and shook his head.
This is neither the time nor place, Greg,
Mathe growled in warning. He released the wrangler’s wrists as he moved toward the steps of the deck. Damn. Anyone could have seen. Go back to the birthing barn,
he ordered roughly. After I see to the guests, I’ll join you.
With a feral grin, he added, Then, we will discuss your punishment.
Without another word, Mathe stepped down the several steps off the porch and headed toward the medical cottage. To ease his erection’s discomfort,
