About this ebook

Lizzie Lake's house sitting job in the hills of Appalachia is about to get very interesting when a sensual fight between man and goblin breaks out...

Lizzie Lake looks forward to a few peaceful months at her aunt's place, Landry's Farm, but her first night proves the place is anything but tranquil.

When she sees a non-human but handsome face in the window, she wonders if the superstitions her Aunt Lou holds are true. After finding a dogeared copy of the poem Goblin Market, she suspects that an old myth from the past lives on in the present. Handsome local Riley Mann distracts her from the strange goings on, but an encounter with a goblin man, Lorcan, changes everything. Will he be able to protect Lizzie from danger, and can she trust her heart to him?

    Chapter 1

So, the house is really nice, as you can see. I’ve made a lot of changes to it since you were a girl. I hope you’ll take good care of it, and of Miss Tabby, while I’m away. Aunt Lou pursed her lips anxiously.

    I will, Aunt Lou.

The huge, orange cat howled like a banshee, as if in response.

Lizzie’s skin crawled, and she kept from rolling her eyes by a supreme effort of will. This house-sitting job is going to be a cinch if I can get Aunt Lou to leave for Europe already and find some place to shove Miss Tabby. Aunt Lou puts me on edge...Always has.

I know you will. Her tiny, wrinkled aunt patted her arm. Well, I’m off. She licked her lips and cleared her throat.

    What is it?

Nothing, nothing. I hope you’ll enjoy your time here. Aunt Lou’s gaze slid away.

No, tell me. Lizzie resisted the urge to drum her fingertips on the kitchen counter.

Well, the place can be a bit fey—strange...touched.

Aunt Lou! I didn’t know you were superstitious.

The older woman pursed her lips again, and Lizzie realized she was serious. She had all the characteristics of a dweller on back roads and forgotten towns—superstition and fear.

I’ll be careful. I mean, you’ve been in this house for years and years. I wouldn’t think something like that would frighten you. And, what do you mean, strange?

Thirty years, and it doesn’t frighten me. It’s best for you to see for yourself. I just wanted you to know and to not be afraid either. Aunt Lou gave her a tight smile and pivoted on one high heeled foot.

Don’t forget the plants, no wild parties, and call me every few weeks. She
