    CHAPTER ONE

    Georgia

September was always the summer’s last sigh. Georgia’s hand tightened around the leather grip of her guitar case as she walked through the fading sunshine on her way to the rehearsal studio.

Remember this is meant to be fun. You’re not on your way to a funeral. Ben grinned his perfect photo-ready smile at her. Georgia shook her head to clear it of thoughts about where the content of the case she was carrying had been. The guitar that had stopped a bullet for her and that she’d run back inside a burning building to rescue was still just a guitar, if she could bring herself to let it be.

Yeah, I know. I’m probably just nervous. I haven’t played with anyone for a long time… Ben shifted his own guitar case to the other side of his body so he had a free hand to lay across her shoulders.

We’ve been playing songs together ever since we got back from America. Georgia shrugged.

It’s just… different. Jamming outside on Ben’’s patio was one thing, but now they were going to a rehearsal room to show the rest of the band the songs they’d been working on
