About this ebook
Take one abrasive professional athlete, a quirky out-of-work schoolteacher, and an overweight geriatric dog, and you're ready for a lesson in love...Tippy style.
Pro baseball pitcher Cal Crawford is not a dog guy. When he inherits his deceased mother's elderly dog, Tippy, he's quick to call on a pet-sitting service.
Gina isn't thrilled to be a dog sitter when her aspirations lie in the classroom. Furthermore, she can't abide the unfriendly Cal, a man with all the charm of a wet towel. But with no other prospects and a deep love for all things canine, she takes the job caring for Tippy.
As Gina travels through Cal's world with Tippy in tow, she begins to see Cal in a different light. Gina longs to show Cal the God-given blessings in his life that have nothing to do with baseball or fame. When her longing blooms into attraction, Gina does her best to suppress it. But Cal is falling in love with her too...
Discover the charming story of Tippy, the dog who brought a family together.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Title: Sit, Stay, Love (Love Unleashed)Author: Dana MentinkPages: 224Year: 2016Publisher: Harvest HouseMy rating is 5 stars.Dana Mentink brilliantly writes a tale and draws readers in by connecting it to an elderly dog. Before I forget let me share with you that the second novel in series will come out July 2016 titled, Fetching Sweetness, and I cannot wait to enjoy that book!Cal is a major league pitcher with some major league hurts and disappointments in his life. Gina is the woman who is hired originally to dog sit for Cal’s dog Tippy though Gina longs to be a teacher. With a touch of realism where every move Cal makes shows up in social media and fans surround him, Dana has written a very cute story. At first, I thought and hoped that since the dog was elderly that it didn’t involve the dog not making it until the end of the tale. However, I am glad to say that Tippy thrives just fine throughout the book. There is the main thread running throughout the work of fiction of the heart’s search for love based on who one is and not their job or income. Faith, romance and some crazy moments fill the pages of interaction with Cal, Gina and a dog named Tippy.Don’t pass up this novel focused on those themes of the idea that family is most important even if it includes a dog who loves cheese balls!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Cal Crawford, professional baseball pitcher, has just learned that he's inherited his mother's overweight geriatric pooch, Tippy. He's not in the least bit happy about this revelation. With travel commitments and training how could he possibly care for an old dog? He doesn't even like dogs, or so he thinks. Reminded that he has enough money to hire someone to like and care for the dog for him, that's just what he does. Gina Palmer's very different from Cal Crawford. She drives a beat up car, eats fattening doughnuts, loves dogs and is as free spirited as he is taciturn. Nevertheless, he's in a bind and can use her help immediately and so he hires her. Although their arrangement gets off to a rocky start, Gina and Tippy help Cal to learn the true meaning of a successful life, and it has very little to do with baseball or money.I enjoyed Sit, Stay, Love. It was refreshing seeing the transformation of Cal Crawford from a somewhat arrogant, cynical and faithless man to one who learned the meaning of redemption and compassion. It was interesting watching the relationship between Cal and his absentee father, Mitch, unfold. The family dynamic kept me engrossed in parts of the book. The secondary characters were a nice addition to the story, and of course Tippy just steals your heart. Overall, Sit, Stay, Love was a pleasant and satisfying read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5As you open the first pages of this book your about to see how the unconditional love of a dog is about to change many lives, some for the good, and others, well may they get what they deserve? When famous Falcon’s pitcher Cal Crawford’s mom passes away he inherits a dog, and he instantly finds a dog sitter. Tippy is all of a sudden devoted to Cal, wants him by her side when she eats. He complains, but is it really the dog that is bothering him?You will get a great mind picture of Tippy with socks on, loved it and could hear those little nails get quiet. Of course the dog sitter, and out of work schoolteacher, and coming off a relationship, Gina, falls head over heals in love with Tippy. I think that she quickly had a spark with Cal too, but he is so grumpy. There are deep feelings here, and God is working in their lives, and the lesson of forgiveness, a really hard thing to do, is rearing it head here towards Cal.This is a really enjoyable quick read, and once that first page is turned you won’t want to put it down. I loved it!I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harvest House, and was not required to give a positive review.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Cal is a professional athlete. Gina is an out-of-work substitute dog sitter. Tilly is a geriatric dog, left to Cal by his recently deceased mother. They all come together to create a loving, fantastic story that will touch every reader. Though there are three main characters, Tilly is the real star. Cal is heart-broken by his mother’s death and also has some big issues with his past to resolve. Gina also has some issues with her past, especially with her last beau, which she must resolve, before moving on. Cal hires Gina to pet-sit for Tilly because he has little time or interest in taking care of an older dog thrust on him by his mother. Besides, he is a baseball player and spring training is about to begin. Gina is a substitute pet-sitter who wants to be the best sub possible. As the story progresses, Tilly shows both Cal and Gina just how to get along with everyone around as well as to make the best of life’s ups and downs, while resolving any issues that come up. This is a short but fantastic story of how one dog brings everyone together, while helping them see life’s bigger issues and overcome every adversity, regardless how overbearing or insignificant. This is a great book for dog lovers everywhere, as well as for anyone looking for a pleasant, uncomplicated read. I found myself totally engrossed in the story from the start. There are moments of sublime tenderness that will bring any sensitive reader to tears, and moments that will have the reader chuckling and/or nodding his/her head at Tilly antics. This is one book I will definitely keep to re-read whenever I am felling lonely, depressed or am tired of the cop/detective mysteries that I find everywhere. I highly recommend this book to any and every reader. You will love it. You will love Tilly. You will be disappointed when the story ends. I hope this is just the beginning of many books about Tilly or about other similar dogs who make a difference in our lives. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What can be better than a story that features a dog? A love story that features an adorable dog! Sit, Stay, Love is a contemporary romance with plenty of sparks and a dog that always steals the show. Gina, the pet-sitter, and Cal, the pro baseball player, don’t hit it off at first. But Tippy, an overweight, geriatric Dachshund knows how to shake things up, even with a man who is grieving and a woman who thinks she’ll never really measure up. A quick and humor-filled read, Sit, Stay, Love is a sure winner. There is a lot to love about this novel. The characters are genuine and relatable with real life emotions, doubts, hurts and fears. The plot is inventive and keeps the pages turning. The faith message is woven seamlessly throughout. And of course their is Tippy. Tippy is clueless, lovable and slightly mischievous and wins the hearts of whoever she encounters, including this reader. The best thing about this book? A portion of the sales will go to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue!Perfect for those who love a light romance or for your favorite dog lover, Sit, Stay, Love is a recommended read!Recommended.Audience: adults.(Thanks to Harvest House Publishers for a review copy. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is Dana's first book about a dog, Tippy. Tippy is delightful to read about. He brings Cal and Gina together. Cal doesn't want his Mother;s dog (she passed away) so he hires Gina to dog sit. But Gina really wants to teach school more than anything. Cal is a famous Pitcher. Tippy causes problems but soon becomes the dog that makes everyone want to come to games. I loved reading about him. I am a dog lover but wasn't always. I loved reading about blind children playing beep baseball coached by Cal's Uncle. Gina loves Cal as a man God made him to be and not as a celebrity. Cal's Dad shows up who hasn't been in his life most of it. Cal doesn't want his Dad around. But learning to give a person a right to be good is a hard lesson. Gina was good for Cal.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sit, Stay, Love is a new, fun, lighthearted romance from Dana Mentink. This book is full of quirky characters, funny mishaps, romance, and even a tad bit of mystery. I enjoyed getting to know Cal and Gina, the main characters. Cal, a professional baseball player, is dealing with the loss of his mother while also having to face his father who abandoned him wanting to be in his life again. Cal is dealing with all of this as well as a struggling career when he meets, Gina, the dog sitter, who he hires to take care of the dog he inherits from his mother. I also can't forget to mention that readers (especially dog lovers like myself) will fall in love with Tippy, a senior dachshund mix, that will steal your heart and keep you in stitches. You'll have to read the book to see just what kind of adventures Tippy will take Cal and Gina on. What I have come to appreciate about a story by Dana Mentink is she can address issues of reconciliation, forgiveness, etc., but also make me laugh out loud as well. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
