About this ebook
Desmond Haas
Desmond Haas lives in upstate New York, USA, where he hides himself from his family, two dogs and five cats, and pounds on a keyboard to try and make sense of the words and images in his head. Writing, he says, is an invisible performance art. He considers himself to be a renaissance man, stuck in time, working with various media, including photography, to express himself. While most of his books and short stories are contemporary erotic romance, he is secretly working on other genres in his underground lair. Above this lair, he lives with his wife, two teenagers, two large dogs and five cats. As he is a reverse snow bird from Florida, Desmond relishes the four season climate, but hates cleaning the snow off his car in the winter.

Dedication
All the women in my life taught me about love and acceptance,
but none more so than my exquisitely sensitive
and beautiful wife.
Without her in my life, I wouldn’t be.
He was having one of those days at work, where everything he did took extra effort, like trying to push water uphill. When he came in to work, the contentiousness with Carly the night before weighed heavily on his mind. It seemed their frequent arguments were getting worse. They would blow up at each other with little provocation. He had waited for her to come home yesterday, expecting her before six, but it was after nine when she’d finally walked in the door. She smelled of cigarettes and alcohol, which started last night’s altercation. As he stood up to head off to lunch, a headache instantly overcame him. There was no warning, no buildup, just an excruciating migraine forcing him to sit back down. This is Carly’s fault.
He reached into a drawer, pulling out three ibuprofen, then popping them into his mouth, swallowing them dry, not wanting to waste a second for relief. He’d experienced headaches in the past, but this was by far the worst he’d ever felt; the pain started at the top of his head, then radiated down the back, below his neck. The tension from the arguments he’d been having with Carly over the past few weeks exacerbated what should have been only mild discomfort. He quickly sent an email to his boss informing her he needed to leave work early.
Bright sunlight hit his eyes as he exited the building, forcing him to squint and hold his hand on his forehead
