About this ebook
With the countdown to Christmas underway, interior designer Jackie Frost is surprised to receive an urgent phone call from Santa Claus requesting her help. Once at the North Pole, Jackie gets swept up into Santa's crazy plan to makeover Christmas Central as a surprise for Mrs. Claus.
Several things test Jackie's devotion to the Claus family as the renovations get underway, not the least of which is having to work alongside master craftsman Dean Bradshaw. Dean is handsome, smart, funny, and he has an absolute gift for building things. But what worries Jackie is what he's taking apart, namely the walls she's built up around her heart.

The Christmas Makeover - Caroline Mickelson

M r. Claus is on line two for you, Ms. Frost.
Jackie Frost stared in surprise at the silver tone telephone on her spotless Lucite desk. Santa? Calling at this time of the year? She glanced at the calendar. December twelfth. This couldn't be good. She thanked her assistant and hit the speakerphone button. Santa? What's wrong?
The sound of Santa's laughter filled her spacious office. Hello, my dear girl. How are you?
Jackie settled back in her white leather chair. It didn't escape her notice how neatly he'd sidestepped her question. I'm quite well, Santa. Thank you for asking. It's a busy time of the year for us, as I know it is for you.
She examined the pale pink frosted polish her nail tech had chosen for her manicure that morning while she waited for her caller to respond.
I suppose it is,
he hedged.
Jackie's delicately arched eyebrows rose. Jack Frost, her late father, and Santa had been friends for decades, which made Santa like an uncle to her. Clearly he needed to talk about something. Obviously, she was going to have to pull it out of him. I'm a little surprised that you've got time to chit chat. How's Christmas looking this year?
All told, I think it's going to be the best one ever.
Jackie laughed. You say that every year. Tell me how your family is.
Splendid,
Santa said, a bit of his normal enthusiasm restored to his voice. Carol, Ben, and Kris are all enjoying domestic bliss with their new families. Say, how's your love life?
Oh, no, they weren't going there. Putting her non-existent dating schedule under a microscope was not going to happen. Not interesting enough to talk about. How is Mrs. Claus?
More beautiful than the day I met her. In fact, she's part of the reason I called.
Ah, so now they were getting someplace. Go on,
Jackie encouraged him.
Well, the truth is, I want to ask you a favor, Jackie. A gigantic one, as a matter of fact.
He paused for a moment before plunging on. Our fortieth wedding anniversary is at the end of the month and I want to do something special for my lovely bride.
Congratulations, Santa. That's certainly worth celebrating.
Forty years? She couldn't get past a fourth date. How can I help? Oh, wait, don't tell me. You'd like me to help Carol plan your anniversary party?
Not exactly.
Jackie waited for more but all she heard was silence on the line. Look, Santa, we both know that you don't have time for even a brief phone conversation in December, least of all a protracted one. Please just ask what you called to ask and I'll help if I'm able.
I want you to come to the North Pole and redecorate Christmas Central for Mrs. Claus before our anniversary without her knowing why you're visiting or what you're doing.
Jackie stared at the phone.
Hello?
Santa's voice carried through the speaker. Jackie? Are you there?
I am, Santa. But I don't think I understood what you just said. You want me to come to the North Pole to discuss renovation plans?
No. I want you to come and redecorate the main Christmas Central buildings as my anniversary gift to her.
So she had heard him correctly the first time. Good grief, was he hitting the eggnog a little early this year?
Say you'll come, my dear?
Santa, you aren't serious. I can't possibly get away. Not to mention that Christmas Central is an absolute beehive of activity from Thanksgiving until after the New Year. How could I get anything accomplished? Much less keep it a secret?
She was babbling and she knew it, but her list of objections was so long she couldn't stop herself. And don't forget that I would need time to put together some design ideas.
Is that a yes?
Jackie dropped her head into her hands. She heard a thousand tiny voices in her head urging her to quickly refuse and disconnect the call. But she could also hear one solitary voice, her father's
