The New Class
Sometimes Richard wished that he had other parents. Not that he did not like them. Quite the opposite, he liked them a lot. If only it was not for one thing. Since his first year at school he had been teased because of it.
But then, on top of it all, his family had to move! In his new class it became unbearable. It started on the first day of school.
He went with his new class teacher, Miss Summers, to class 3B. Richard was not worried that everybody was looking at him. What he did dread, though, was what would come next.
Then Miss Summers said, First of all, we want to get to know each other.
The pupils sat down in a circle.
Now I want everybody to tell us their name and what they like doing,
Miss Summers continued.
The boy who lived in the same block of flats as Richard started, My name is Patrick Smith and I like watching television.
My name is Freddy Schulz and most of all I like playing on the computer,
the next one said.
As everyone introduced themselves, Richard’s heart beat faster. Only two pupils were now in front of him.
Then only one!
Finally his turn came. Everybody was looking at him.
