A French-speaking Swiss, Joël Dicker was born in 1985 in Geneva. A law graduate, he has always possessed a true passion for writing. This passion showed itself in his early years: at the age of 10, he founded a nature magazine which earned him the title of ‘Switzerland’s Youngest Editor-In-Chief’. In 2005, his short story The Tiger was awarded a prize and published as part of a literary contest. He then turned to writing novels. In 2010, The Final Days of Our Fathers, a historical narrative on the British contribution to the French Resistance, won the Geneva Writers prize, but it would not be published until 2012.
