I am somewhat new in my department. The insight I gained from this material will provide me with the baseline my boss does not have in terms of running and controlling my department.
I’ve been in the business for over 30 years and there were reminders of details I've long since forgotten. Very thorough.
It is obvious the author has been in management a long time. He hits a lot of areas that I have never thought of.

This book is an introduction for managers to the shark-infested waters of an information technology department (IT). I intentionally use the analogy of a shark infestation because most of the time, IT managers do not realize they are in trouble until the end of their careers. There may be trouble lurking all around them, but because they only look directly ahead, they do not see the peril behind or below.
If, however, they took the same viewpoint as a camera crew hovering safely overhead in a helicopter, their outlook would be much different. With a 360-degree, three-dimensional view, they can see the dangers surrounding the people in the water and take steps to protect them.
This book offers you the perspective of someone who has successfully navigated the treacherous waters both in and around a modern IT department. It can serve as a gateway for your career, whether you are just starting out or are recovering from a nasty experience caused by someone else’s poor decision. Experience is a wonderful teacher—so let my nearly 30 years of experience help your career flourish.
If you have been newly promoted to a position of leadership in an IT department, or were recently hired as an IT manager, this book is for you!
