    You must be Austin?

It was the first time I ever laid eyes on Connor Drake and I was in love. On my very first day in Westcity, I was completely and utterly floored when he pulled open that door. Those bright blue eyes, that coiffed lick of shaggy blond hair and that smile.

I completely forgot myself when I looked at him. He was not what I had been expecting at all. This was my third stop of the day looking for a place to live, and the other two potential roomies had nothing on Connor.

After what felt like an hour of staring, I suddenly remembered who I was and why I was there.

Yes, hi, I shot out my hand and a red flush crept up the back of my neck. Why did I have to be so goddamn lame?

Connor didn’t seem fazed and gave me a firm handshake. Now this was the fun part, not. I hated meeting a stranger for the first time and then trying to dazzle him so that I could move in.

By this stage, I was pretty desperate for a place. I mustered up all the courage I could and stepped through the doorway. Connor’s place was the lower floor of a ratty old townhouse but when I entered I was pleasantly surprised. But mostly because of how cute he was.

So yeah, this is the place, Connor said with a shrug and leaned up against the wall of the entranceway smirking at me. He had a natural sort of confidence, I guess that came with being goddamn gorgeous. Connor’s long and lean body had my head doing circles.

Just have a look around, he continued, adding a little shrug and cocking his head. You’re not crazy, are you?

No, no. Definitely not crazy, I assured and walked into the living room. It was sparsely decorated just a couch and a TV. But I would have lived just about anywhere. I had just moved to the city and really, really needed a roof over my head.

It’s nice, I said while I looked around the room.

Connor let out a sharp laugh and I turned to see him shaking his head.

No, it’s not, it’s a dump. But I appreciate your enthusiasm. Come on, I’ll show you your room.

We made our way down the hall and along the way Connor pointed out a small grungy bathroom and his bedroom across from it.

This is your room, he said, nudging open the final door. Inside was musty and dark, the curtains were closed. But there was a solid bed in the corner and a dresser on the other side. That was all I needed, and it would be all mine.

    It’s great,
