Chapter 1

Dan shuffled forward, his movements at odds with his lithe, sinuous dancer’s physique. He burrowed deeper into the baggy clothes he wore. Mortified and humiliated, shame seeped into his core, his body bowing under the strain.

Despair gripped his mind and he feverishly tried to block out the unwanted thoughts. His traitorous brain kept replaying the scene at his parents’ house, their looks of disgust etched onto his retina.

He’d never had an easy relationship with either his mother or his father, both of them uncomfortable with his chosen profession as a ballet dancer. Now, though, they had fuel to add to their skewed view of the dancing world and the fire burned white hot. Righteous anger had contorted his father’s face with his mother in total support of his outrage. It had been months ago, but Dan relived it all as if it was yesterday. He shivered at the memory.

Snapping out of his fugue, Dan presented the meagre fair that he called dinner to the cashier. Carrots, celery and a coconut water were tallied up and he handed over his money in payment.

Mumbling his thanks, Dan left the supermarket, intent on getting back to his apartment to resume his self-imposed exile. Head down, lost in his own world, he barely registered colliding into her.

Sorry, he grunted and kept walking.

Stop. the command wasn’t loud, but the word penetrated Dan’s fog and he obeyed without thought. Turn around. Again the order was delivered in a tone that made Dan shiver inexplicably.

As he turned slowly, he looked into her eyes, emerald pools that held him spellbound. Tendrils of rich auburn hair framed her heart shaped face with most of it pulled into a loose bun on top of her head.

His heartbeat pounded in his head and his breath came in short gasps.

Tearing his eyes from hers, he cast them downward and groaned. Oh no, what a mistake!

His cock stood to attention, the tantalising, forbidden and erotic fantasy a reality as he caught sight of her pretty feet encased in soft leather shoes.

Becoming a recluse had given him some relief from his obsession, but that was now a distant memory.
