About this ebook

Mistrust, a wrong act, storms brought about one terrible night as a thoughtless decision will cause many worlds to come together. Tidbit, a young fairy finds himself in just this scenario. Fairies don't live by Time and they live life ruled by no one, only the joys of the continual changes of each New Year brought about by the Watchman and the setting of the clocks. The Watchman: a creator of many worlds, each governed by a different clock, thus creating different dimensions; a magnificent being who had always lived closely with the fairies. He was revered by them until the New Years approach when Tidbit noticed subtle changes in his demeanor; sadness! What had happened to cause the Watchman to walk with furrowed brows, slumped shoulders and unshed tears pooling in his eyes?

    Tidbit's Tales;

    Year of Bereavement

    The time of year was unknown in numbers. Fairies didn’t keep track of Time, never heard of it. They kept track of the year with names, titles. In this particular year the excitement amongst the fairy clan was at its peak. They always lived happily and with excitement. They knew nothing else to live by. No other emotions or conditions governed them.

    Each fairy relished the New Year as it quickly approached, knew it by instincts, much like animals of today’s world. It’s when the Watchman sets his clocks. It was a mystery to the fairies on what year he would choose. A much beloved one they had experienced long ago, or a new one, never before lived. He either decided on a year of future or one of past. How he did it the fairies never guessed, they just accepted whatever came.

    The young fairy Tidbit, being the oldest, took the lead. Troliver was second in line and always followed closely behind by Pollen. She was the youngest and took her sweet time flouncing from this flower to that. She was easily distracted with all the sights and smells.

    The elders knew and trusted that the Watchman’s choices were wise and methodically dealt and always for their greatest joy. They could hardly wait for the New Year to arrive as they all prepared for the yearly feast when all fairy hearths were joined together for this one day. But the young fairies were curious. They wanted to search the history ledger for fairy years past and future, speculating on how much fun it would be to live in this one or that. The young fairies mother served on the fairy council and often times let the youths of the clan review it right before the New Year’s approach. It’s very old, she spoke a warning each year. And you must treat it and the knowledge it carries with reverence. Not to do so would have catastrophic consequences, she warned.

    What does that mean, Momma? asked Troliver late one night as they sat in front of their hearth looking though its contents. Looking to him, she kept quiet for long moments, then replied, "It means, my little one, that great and terrible things will happen if the book or its contents are changed. It must never come to any harm. And it must never leave our tree trunk. I am the keeper of our history and I trust the three of you to treat it
