Chapter 1
The Russian vessel Karena glided silently along the Californian coastline, spraying its deadly mist into the air from an array of giant spray heads.
That should cause them a problem or two,
said Captain Timor to the first mate, the virus developed by our great scientists will bring them to their knees by taking out every iron and steel structure in the county. The prevailing winds will do the job for us by spreading it across the whole country from west to east in a matter of days. Victory will be ours.
The Karena motored on its deadly path just far enough from the coast to stay in international waters and out of range of prying American eyes. She had been listening to the captain and first mate’s conversation, and interjected, "Yes, by my calculations the cloud will hit the coast within the hour, where it will begin its devastation of our enemy, the mighty USA, to the glory of our people and pay the Americans back for the damage they caused us in their cold war.
As you say Comrade, victory will be ours.
The tanks of the poison virus steadily emptied through the night until by dawn the job was done. The crew cut through the structure holding the spray heads and dumped them over the side, where they sank
