INTRODUCTION

Captivated By You is the fourth book in the continuing series by novelist, Sylvia Day. It takes the story further and encompasses the period between Gideon and Eva eloping and their actual wedding. At this time very few of their good friends know of their real marital status. The novel may be read as a standalone book, but when read as part of the series; it offers a more in-depth reading experience, since there are a number of references to characters and past events from the earlier books.

The protagonists are Gideon Cross, the CEO of Cross Industries - who is super rich and makes it to the list of very powerful billionaires in the globe – and Eva Tremell, his beautiful wife. Eva loves Gideon but hates his controlling nature and chafes against it. In his defense, he says he is saving her from enemies; this sounds hollow and later she learns that his fear that she would leave him makes him behave this way.

The conflicts in the novel carry on from the past and arise from the antagonism that colors different characters. Gideon has to face Ryan Landon who makes multiple efforts to destroy him, the same way as Gideon’s father had hurt Ryan’s father in the past. Eva has to face the machinations of Brett Kline, her former lover, who wants to be back with her and has the leverage of the incriminating sex tape made with Eva. Lurking behind are the deeper conflicts that drive their actions: Gideon suffered sexual abuse when a child; this colors his present life and Eva has to deal with her inner demons from when she suffered stalking.
