A Storm is Coming

About this ebook
You do not have to be a prophet to know that a storm is coming to America. Just look around; watch a bit of news. What may surprise people - Christian people - is that the storm is intended for the church that resides here. This book is about that storm and the preparation of our spiritual house, that we might be a light and refuge when for the people of God. Importantly, the storm that is coming is not the only storm. Many of us have faced storms during our lifetimes: Death of a loved one, loss of a job, serious illness, etc. Whether you are facing one of those storms, the coming storm, or the future storm to end all storms, the strength of your house will be tested (Matthew 7:24-27). Best now to request an inspection. A Storm is Coming was written for that very purpose.

Introduction
In early 2015, my father asked me how much stock I was putting into the proposition of God’s soon coming judgment on America, as presented in The Harbinger; a book by Jonathan Cahn. I did not have a strong answer. In essence, I did not know what the Lord would have me believe. So I asked Him. This book contains many of the truths He has shared with me.
In short, I received the Lord’s affirmation that a storm was indeed coming to America; and, most importantly, that judgment was coming to the church that resides here. The Lord encouraged me to prepare spiritually; and to help others do the same. Helping others manifested itself in a series of articles on the inLight Adventures blog site; and collected here.
It is important to clarify that God never gave me a specific date for His judgment on the church in America. He does not judge one moment and stop judging the next. He is always, and will always, be the Judge of all creation (beginning with the church). It has not been given to man to know the day and hour of the Lord’s return. However, we are promised eyes to see and ears to hear; that we would know what God is doing (Amos 3:7).
As Jonathan Cahn has been careful to say, God is not beholden to any particular pattern or sign in the sky (except those clearly revealed in Scripture). God did, however, give me a deadline for preparing myself and those in my spheres of influence. That date has passed without an event - at least not one that is obvious or dramatic. I am not surprised, nor would I have been surprised had something happened on the deadline I was given.
It is important to lay out a bit of context for what follows:
1. This book is, for the most part, about spiritual preparation. There are references to the practical; even a whole article of helps. However, it is critically important to prioritize the spiritual aspects of our preparation. To do otherwise is simply foolish worldliness that will end somewhere between wasteful and disastrous.
2. Knowing our frame, God is dynamic and specific in His working in us to will and do to His good pleasure. It is important to trust His work in ourselves and in others. In the end, it will all make kingdom sense.
3. The articles presented here have been written in response to the warnings of a particular storm - a storm that is coming to America and to the church that resides here. However, it will serve you well to recognize that the truths presented here apply to every storm of life (e.g., cancer, loss of a loved one, persecution). These storms are allowed to test our faith, and to prove and prepare us for future tribulations. Preparation is never too early; but there is a time when the opportunity to prepare has passed. Start now; for the time is growing short.
Finally, I encourage you to read these articles from three perspectives. First, read them from the perspective of your own preparation. Only the prepared are positioned to help prepare others. Second, consider those in your spheres of influence; for you are responsible, and will benefit, from their preparation.
Most importantly, consider God’s perspective in your preparation. Focus on Him and His pleasure. Use the talents you have been given wisely. Behold the glory of the Lord, and you will be transformed into the very same image - a light and a refuge for the brethren.
I Believe a Storm is Coming
As we mourn with the families of those 21 martyrs, we’d better take this warning seriously as these acts of terror will only spread throughout Europe and the United States. If this concerns you like it does me, share this. The storm is coming. Franklin Graham (Facebook post in response to ISIS murder of 21 Egyptian Christians)
Over the last month, I’ve encouraged you to force open your eyes and ears, and to decide (with the Lord) what you believe we are facing in the near future. I think it is only fair to do the same with you. I will start by saying that I believe Franklin Graham’s words are prophetic; not that we will see Christians murdered on American soil (though that is possible), but that the storm is coming
.
It reminds me of what Jesus had to say at the conclusion of The Sermon on the Mount:
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall. Matthew 7:24-27
Regardless of what the house falling or standing might mean to you, it is certainly something significant. We must prepare for the coming storm. Hearing the sayings of Jesus and doing them is the requirement for strong houses.
To assist in your preparation, I have created a list of The Sayings of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount. Of course, you can read them for yourself. In either case, reading alone won’t produce the faith we need. We must have His rhema (right now, spoken word). Please start seeking Him for it.
Spiritual Preparation is Paramount
Let me begin by saying that I don’t believe the storm that is coming is "The
