Reggie

I jumped a little as the stack of folders were slammed onto my desk.

Where's the the report I asked for? I shouldn't have to ask for it twice- there are plenty of girls out there who'd love to have this job.

I hit send a little harder than I had to before replying.

Just sending it over now Mr. Weber.

Asshole.

About time.

The door to his office shut with a hard click.

Taking the folders, I started organizing them and getting notes ready for his meeting later today.

I didn't mind the work I did as a secretary. It wasn't the most exciting, but I took pride in doing a good job.

And I knew I did a damn good job despite Sir Asshole's constant put downs.

But somehow, knowing that only made me angrier.

Trying to put him out of my mind, I got back to work.

Going through my inbox, I took care of everything that I could handle and forwarded the rest to Weber's email.

I paused as I reached a subject line that said OPEN ME NOW.

From Fran. She was always on the dramatic side. Probably another cat video.

Shrugging, I clicked on it.

Evan Roth was the CEO of Equilibrium Enterprises. How I was supposed to land a job with someone that high up in the company was beyond me.

Even if he couldn't seem to keep an assistant for longer than a month. There was actually a cross departmental pool going on regarding how long this last assistant was going to last.

I guess I didn't win again.

But really, by all accounts he'd seemed like the hard-as-nails type. I'd thought he'd at least last a month.

I clicked on the link she'd posted in the body.

Education, typing skills, yada, yada, yada...I skimmed through the usual requirements until I got to the bottom.

Need someone who can start immediately. Must be available evenings and weekends. Willing to travel if needed. Must sign confidentiality agreement.

Didn't exactly sound like a dream job.

Then I saw the compensation a couple of lines down.

Wow. That would be a nice upgrade.

Tapping my pen on the desk next to my keyboard, I leaned back as I considered the screen.

I hated my boss, but that wasn't exactly unique. I'd been looking for another job on the side for a few weeks now. But I could be going from the frying pan into the fire with this position.

I wonder what he did to make them all quit so quickly.

Especially considering the fact that he was very easy on the eyes. Although I'd only seen pictures since Weber's office was in the back of the building and I wasn't often in areas where I might see him.

Reggie! I need some coffee! And the font for this report is all wrong. Fix it so it doesn't look so horrendous.

He grumbled something uncomplimentary under his breath as he closed his door again.

Right.

Applying for the job.

At least I could be paid more even if Evan Roth turned out to be a douche.

I got everything I needed to get done before Asshole went to his meeting. Then I opened the link again and filled out the application.

Since it was within the same company, it didn't take long to finish.

Then I got down to a space at the bottom where my current supervisor could add a recommendation.

Well, that wasn't happening.

Might hurt my chances, but no way I was asking for a recommendation when I might be stuck in this job. I'm sure he'd find ways to torment me about it before finding an excuse to fire me.

Skipping that part, I clicked the submit button.

There went nothing.

Checking the clock, I started packing my things.

I turned to the computer to shut it down when it dinged with an incoming

I like the story well enough, and I like the characters but I was left with a sense of an unfinished story....an undeveloped plot..
