"There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us,
it doesn't behoove any of us to speak evil of the rest of us"
― Edgar Cayce
Preface
A few years before his passing in 2014, I was having one of the many casual conversations about nothing particular with my Grandfather, the late Reverend Raymond Charles Johnson Sr. He was a devout Southern Baptist Pastor (though very opened minded and liberal), the patriarch of our family, a leader in many communities and organizations, and a distinguished Man of God. We were chatting in the church before a weekly Brotherhood meeting in which I sporadically attended. I don’t remember how we got on the topic, but I vividly recall him asking me; Kacey, you know what the bible is about, right?
… I immediately felt like I should know the answer to that question. In a split second, I’m thinking of all the stories and doctrine the Biblical passages contain, and all of the acquired information and parables that I’ve been indoctrinated to my entire life. I was prepared to rattle off some intellectual rebuttal about religion, God, and Faith, that I felt he surely would’ve been impressed with, but something stopped me from responding. As I look back, I think it was because subconsciously, I truly couldn’t just sum it up. Uncharacteristically, in a rare act of patience and humility, I didn’t answer. I meekly shook my head, and awaited a response. Then in the most eloquent and microcosmic fashion, he simply said to me It’s about Love… It teaches you how to love
… Out of everything I’d learned about religion and faith to that point that made the most sense to me.
He didn’t have to expand on it, or explain it. The word Love
summed it all up to me into context I could logically grasp. As a well learned man of faith, a teacher, and a friend, there is so much more he could have said to me about a book that is so monumental to our current way of life. However, rather than discuss its law or principles, or faith and religion, he simply told me its purpose. And that I understood.
As a whole, this book is also about love. It’s not meant to sway you in any direction, or change your opinion. Its sole purpose is to provide a different perspective and additional information you might not have previously been privy to. How you choose to process that information is entirely up to you. Hopefully you find a particular subject matter you resonate with. So while reading this book, whether you agree with my information and theories or not, the essence of it and motivation behind it, is still love.
Synopsis
After finally having the courage to question religion, and the strong Christian faith in which I was brought up under, I have opened myself to a realm of knowledge and understanding that reaches far beyond what I’ve understood as the Biblical reference of God
. This is not the total foundation of this literature, but more of the Genesis
of my understanding. The word Genesis
within itself meaning so much more than just the beginning, with its root origin really meaning Genes of Isis
from Egyptian, to Greek, to English renditions. That within itself tells the story how things have literally been lost in translation.
The information given herein is not for the purpose of overall enlightenment, but more so to start a new type of conversation or change the subject matter of your normal daily rhetoric. We seem to be so in tune with celebrities that we’ve never met, that we’ve seem to have lost touch with ourselves. We can speak to no ends about our favorite athlete’s stats and attributes and be totally disconnected with worldly events, the needs of our spouse, or your own needs for that matter. Modern technology
