    These stories are about seven year old twins with extraordinary names. The little girl is called Twinkletoes and the little boy, Chicky Wicky Wikey. How did they come to have these names? Well, when Christine Colette Wykes was a tiny baby, she was forever twinkling her toes about in her cot and pram. Whenever there was music playing she would immediately start waving her little toes madly.

    She’s a regular little Twinkletoes, observed her Daddy, and the name stuck.

    Her brother’s real name was Christopher Charles Wykes, quite a mouthful, and when Twinkletoes began to talk, the best she could make of that was Chicky Wicky Wikey. So that is how he got his name. Funny, but it grows on you after a while.

    You would never think to look at these two children that they were twins. They were not identical twins, quite the opposite in fact, they were totally un-identical. Twinkletoes was small with dark curly hair, blue eyes, and a straight nose above a pretty rosebud mouth which was always smiling. Chicky Wicky Wikey was taller and thinner. His hair was bright red like a floppy mop, always tousled and not at all obedient to any hair brush. He also had blue eyes, large and limpid, usually full of mischief but they could change suddenly into pools of innocence.
