Introduction
Bedwetting is in technical terms known as nocturnal enuresis, but this isn’t one of those technical books, so you can breathe in and relax. Here, bedwetting is not going to be a taboo subject or anything to be embarrassed about. We are going to talk about it freely and openly, sometimes painfully so. I’m not an expert urologist or anything, in fact I’m not even an expert in child affairs. At some point I was an expert child who grew into an expert young adult who also happened to be an expert bed-wetter. So from now on, when you quote this book, you can say, Well honey, the expert bed-wetter says it’s ok in her book…
I know, my sense of humour could use some work.
I may not have an expert opinion on this subject, (there’s lots of urologists and Google for that!) but that’s not what this book is about. I will give you invaluable insights into a child’s mind about every possible bedwetting scenario you have or possibly will encounter with your child that you will not read in any expert’s book. You will know exactly what to do or say when faced with any number of situations concerning your bedwetting child for both your sanity, and his or hers.
I know this with certainty because I was a bed-wetter until the age of 21 (Oh there it goes, expert bed-wetter ping!). I was an avid writer from a young age and I wrote a lot about my bedwetting since it was an issue of much confusion and shame for me. This book is drawn from those writings, everything I wish my parents and siblings knew about my bedwetting at the time.
Most experts will say that the normal age where children’s bedwetting ceases is around 6-7 years old. However, most parents think that it should be 2-3 years
