The words floated in the heavy air. It was late, late enough for the sun to almost be coming back up, and both of us were completely wasted, surrounded by drunkenly passed out friends all over the room.

Our game had started much earlier in the night. We were a group of bored college students, and when someone had suggested Truth or Dare, we had all laughed. It started ironically, all of us pretending that we really weren’t that immature anymore to play such a game. However, it proved to be entertaining throughout the night. People got more and more drunk, and dirtier secrets and riskier dares came up. By now, though, it seemed that only me and Connor. Most people weren’t even awake, and if they were, they had had way too much to drink to focus on the game still. I honestly wasn’t sure why I had still been participating.

I had known Connor for a long time, so his sudden dare came as a total surprise. He wanted me to kiss him? I had never suspected in all my time as his friend that he was interested in guys. I didn’t move, afraid that this would be some kind of weird joke.

You want me to kiss you? I said. I try to keep my tone light and joking.

Perhaps it was his tone, or maybe all the alcohol in my system, but something pushed me to actually do it. I got up from my chair and stumbled over to the couch he was currently sitting on.
