‘Before, I felt I wasn’t exciting enough’
It’s been a big week. I’ve been on a date! I tried online dating via Tinder a couple of years ago, but it was such an aggressive experience it put me off. The men were pushy, and several sent me pictures of their privates. I wasn’t ready for that. I had one date a few months ago – but when the conversation turned to “Should I buy the Audi or the Volvo?”, it was like talking with my ex. I’m not looking for more of the same, so I didn’t see him again. Then, a couple of weeks ago a friend suggested I try Bumble, a dating site where women initiate any interaction. I gave it a go and connected with a guy. We arranged a date for Friday night – just drinks, but it went really well. His life is very different from mine – he has never been married or had kids, but he’s fascinating to talk to and I felt there was a definite attraction between us. We’ve arranged to go out again next week.
