About this ebook

Life Beyond the Pain: Getting Beyond Emotional Turmoil In Your Life by Bob Snyder is a book about how people in the Church can minister to a variety of different people that may have multiple issues in their life, whether they be homeless, lonely, single, or in some way outcasts that the Churches are forgetting or ignoring. To illustrate this, Bob has used experiences from his own life that are of a very personal nature, in combination with Bible passages (Scripture) that command us to minister to the lonely and forgotten.

Life Beyond the Pain challenges Christians to live a Holy life that is pleasing to God. Bob also gives suggestions on how to stand out for God in actions and lifestyle. Bob encourages Christians to be an effective witness for Jesus Christ and to make a difference in someone’s life.

Twenty years ago Bob overcame deep emotional pain stemming from when his natural mother abused him while in the womb. No one knew how to help him with this emotional pain while growing up. It was only later on in adulthood that God showed him the root of the problem and how to overcome it.
Since then, he has been privileged minister to a number of people wherever they are, such as sports bars, malls, restaurants, coffee bars, parks, and pretty much everywhere, sharing how God can heal them of emotional pain, using a Bible based six step method.

Twenty years ago Bob Snyder self published a book called “The Price of Pain” which detailed how he overcame deep emotional pain in the power of the Holy Spirit. The origin of this pain began when his natural mother abused him while in the womb. No one knew how to help him with his emotional pain while growing up. It was only later on in adulthood that God showed him the root of the problem and the solution.Since then, he has been on a one man mission to minister to a number of people wherever they are, such as sports bars, malls, restaurants, coffee bars, parks, and pretty much any where he meets them, sharing how God can heal them of emotional pain. He uses a unique inspired six step method which he has shared with many people.Jesus tells us to “call them in from the highways and hedges”, as in Luke 14:23. We must minister to people in every area of life, whether they are in business, education, social work, restaurant work public sector or private sector. No matter who they are, all people need Christ and it’s up to the Christian to figure out effective ways to get the message out. In this new book, Life Beyond the Pain, he invites the reader to shed off preconceived notions about how the church should operate. It is our prayer that you might be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, in order to win others to Christ for HIs Glory

    INTRODUCTION MY UNIQUE STORY

I was adopted in 1958 in New York and my natural mother abused me in the womb. No one knew how to help me when I was growing up. It was only later on in adulthood that God showed me the root of my problem and the solution. To God's Glory, Jesus not only saved me at age 19 but healed me emotionally at age 31. I'm glad that I didn't have wait any longer than that to receive healing, because I don't think that my wife would have stayed with me and I would have missed out on all of the ministry that God had for me.

Soon I came to realize that there were many people like me that need healing. There is an old saying, where there is great pain there is great gain. This book will discuss my pain, but also the good life I've had in spite of it. I have included the people that I've met along the way, and all the athletic things I've gotten to do. This book talks in detail about my walk with God and how to hear God's voice. I have included a lot of Biblical teaching that will touch people's life and suggestions on how we can reach out to others. It is my prayer that you will read this and apply it to your life.

CHAPTER 1 What I’ve Done In the Last 20 years - My Experiences being a Witness for Jesus

Twenty years ago I self-published my first book called The Price of Pain. This book covered the first 31 years of my life and it talked about how I overcame deep emotional pain in the power of the Holy Spirit. I also talked about how the church can get involved in ministering to people that are emotionally hurting. In this book I gave Biblical truth out about how to overcome pain and how to maintain healing by the power of the Holy Spirit. It covered the victories that I had to get me to the place I am today. This book ministered to a number of people and continues to minister to a number of people today.

Since writing my former book, I have been able to minister to a number of people in sports bars, malls, restaurants, coffee bars, parks, and pretty much anywhere I go. Jesus tells us to call them in from the highways and hedges, Luke 14:23. We must minister to people in every area of life, whether they are in business, education, social work, or restaurant work. They may be a policeman, fireman, or a Congressman, but no matter who they are, all men need Christ.

The bottom line, is if you are being led by God's Spirit, He wants you to minister to people where He has placed you. Remember the man whom Jesus saved and healed who had a legion of demons, Luke 8:26-39. Jesus left this man in Gerasiness to be a testimony for Him there to people that he knew. We can all be testimonies for Jesus right where we are at. The key is to be led by God's Spirit and minister when God opens the door. Remember, To whom much is given, much is required...Luke 12:48. We must minister to those in need and leave the results in God's hand, I Corinthians 3:7. Please remember that God not only wants to save hurting people, but heal them as well. Jesus says in His Word, I came to save the sick as well as the sinners. Matthew 9:12-13. Jesus cares about hurting people and loves them. Jesus wants to make the blind see, the deaf hear, and to bind up the broken-hearted, Luke 4:18. Who are the broken- hearted? They are emotionally hurting people that Jesus wants to heal and will heal if they will only submit to him (II Chronicles 7:14).

It is not a coincidence that you have been sent to the place that you live, the job you are on, the school you are in, Romans 10:15. You have been sent there to minister to those where you have been placed. Freely you have received, freely you must give...Matthew 10:8. Remember that God has given us His unspeakable gift, Jesus Christ, so shouldn't we out of a loving heart, give the gift of Salvation to others as well? Freely means with no strings attached, Romans 6:23. We should give salvation freely to others without expecting anything in return. We have received God's love for our lives freely, so we, motivated out of a loving heart, should freely give to those in need. Men need to know the truth, so that it can set them free, John 8:32, and so that they might walk freely in the Spirit in this life, as well as the life to come.

For the last 20 years I have had a number of opportunities to share my faith with people everywhere that I've been. Once I was working in a breakfast restaurant as a host, and the owner there knew that I had just written a book. He let me share my book as long as I continued to work hard. In this job, I was able to meet a lot of people and was able to share my book with them. As a result, many people learned of my testimony of being saved by faith in Christ, and of God's healing power that healed me emotionally. I obeyed God to work in this particular restaurant and God blessed me because of it. I was able to present Christ to the owner, who took me up in his private plane. The opportunities to share Christ are endless, if we will be available to the Holy Spirit. People are watching our lives to see if we are the genuine real deal, sent by God or not. God uses vessels of holiness that are set apart for him. Do you stand out for God in every area of your life or are you just like people of the world? See I Peter 1:14-16, John 17: 16-19.

Another time, I lived in Leadville, Colorado up in the Rocky Mountains, for about 6 years. This town has a lot of bars in it. I stood out living there, because I didn't drink or do drugs, yet I would go to bars and talk to people. I went to four bars over the space of two years and shared Jesus with people that I would meet, drinking iced tea or Diet Coke. God would open up opportunities for me to share Christ when I would sit and talk to people. This proved to be beneficial for the people who heard it, as it was living water found in Christ, (John 7), over the world's water, which leaves you thirsty, empty and lacking. In Christ we lack no good thing, Matthew 19:16-21.

The Apostle Paul said that Christ came to save sinners, of whom he said that he was chief, I Timothy 1:15. Christ came to save and seek that which is lost, Luke 19:10. We just need to be available for Him and be willing to go to the dark places He may lead us, so that we might be the light, as we are called to be. Light shines out of darkness, and we must be that light to a lost and dying world around us, II Corinthians 4:6.

It takes a lot of boldness to minister. Sometimes, it means making yourself vulnerable. It may mean being willing to open up your life, sharing deep wounds, to be able to relate to a lost and dying world around you. Remember that they have been hurt and wounded deeply as well.

Paul says we must be all things to all men that we might win some, I Corinthians 9:19-22. People want to see something real and Christians are (or should be) as real as it gets. We have life in the Spirit that the world doesn't have. We also have been hurt like the world, but the difference is that we have Jesus who also was broken for our sins. If anyone knows brokenness and hurt, it is Jesus. The Bible says that Jesus became like us, yet without sin, that He might take away our sin, and make us the righteousness of
