When Love Grew Wings - Gajanan V. Mundkar
Epilogue
Prologue
It was the time when the world was ruled by birds. They were civilized, had mighty kingdoms and kings, and philosophies and war, too. One of the mightiest kingdoms was Meghan, ruled by the Eagles. Once, they faced a drought that continued for a very long time. With the drought, the rivers dried up. The trees wilted, and jungles disappeared. There were deserts everywhere. There were often heat and dust storms. The birds were losing their nests and soon, began to lose their host lands. A few birds were still trying to survive. Meghan was one of them, and the kingdom managed to succeed in overcoming the situation. Their disaster recovery force worked day and night to survive against all kind of odds. They fought for long. With time, they began to lose their strength and abilities. Their King was getting sick because of all the anxiety. Although far from Meghan, there was a small host of sparrows in a kingdom known as Figoi, which was still fighting for life and had lost its host land. Spayara was a beautiful sparrow who lost her mother in her childhood. She had grown in over-protective surroundings. Her father had given her a lot freedom and love, so she never felt the absence of her mother.
Chapter - 1
Spayara lost in dreams
(Spayara was unknowingly lost in her lovey-dovey dreams. When she was not lost in her dreams, she found herself far from reality. She was so immersed in her dreams that she couldn’t even bear reality any longer.)
Spayara heard a horrible noise. Suddenly, her father was covering her with his wings.
Spayara! Wake up! Wake up! Spayara! Please! Wake up!
She realized that she had fainted for a long time. Spayara, are you okay?
She recognized Kinja, her best friend. Kinja told her everything, about how the tornado had destroyed their trees and jungles, and how their nests were destroyed. Spayara was hopeless. She had never experienced such a thing in her life before. After a long silence, finally, Kinja mumbled sadly, Spayara! No one had any serious injuries except –
Except what?
Spayara asked. Kinja sat down and calmly said, Your father.
WHAT? WHERE IS MY FATHER? WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM?
Spayara shouted.
Sorry, Spayara! He is no more!
Kinja said. When he was trying to cover you, a large branch from a tree fell on his head!
Shedding only a tear, Spayara was frozen to the spot. From that moment onwards, she remained silent. After that incident, Spayara began living with Kinja, Kanji’s father. He was the leader of the host named Figoi. His name was Ompy, and under his leadership and protection, the whole host was protected. One morning, Ompy called for a meeting.
My dear friends,
he said, Rather than leaving hopelessly, I will choose to die hopefully. Let’s start this day, today, with the sunrise!
he ordered. Let the journey start towards the north, towards life, towards Meghan!
The chirps began with enthusiasm. With the last thing he said, waves of inspiration spread everywhere. Full of energy, everyone flapped their wings and flew up into the sky. After travelling for three months with a few halts on the way, thousands of miles towards the north, only half the host succeeded in reaching Meghan. Due to old age and anxiety, the King of Meghan, Khagaraj, was in a serious condition. He was lying on his bed. His young son, Sarpajit, took care of the kingdom. Ompy was invited to the palace, which was located on top of a mountain. Ompy told them about their journey and their situation.
Khagaraj listened carefully and ordered, Let’s manage a place for the Figoians!
A horrible silence followed. A few seconds later, a humble voice
